Mucous plug formation??

I'm 5wks 1d today, I haven't checked my cervix in a few days but thought I would today, and I had tan cm with one speck of red in it, this is the first spotting I've had so far.. a little concerned but I know it's normal. Also this is weird and tmi but when I felt around I could feel like a little string coming out of my cervix.. I had a feeling that I shouldn't disturb it so I left it alone. Kind of felt like a string of ewcm but more tangible. Does it sound like it's the mucous plug forming?? Anyone experience that before?? Tried to google it but couldn't find anything. Thanks for any help!

All I could find is that the mucous plug is supposed to form in the first couple weeks of pregnancy

I remember that around week 7 I had a chunk of some rubbery beige think and I thought it was due to the mucus plug forming.
I think that might be that for you!

the plug is like snot, looks like it and has the same texture. try and avoid checking your cervix, you an irritate it and cause infection.
