Thankyou for all your responses ladies, it does seem that most second babies tend to weigh more... eekkk, i really hope my midwife will give in and induce me maybe even a week early... i struggled in labour with my son, got stuck at 9.5cm had ventouse cap etc... and im also very young so worried even more

well, I don't know about induction early, as far as I understand, babies are their birthweight by a certain time (37 weeks?) and they don't gain much if any after that. Ruby was 7lb 2oz at 41+2.

Hospital birth with diamorphine and epidural
17 hour labour (45 mins of pushing)
7lb 8.5oz

My daughter -

Spontaneous labour, 4 days early
Home birth, no pain relief, physiological second stage
2 1/2 hours of established labour (approx 7 mins of pushing!)
7lb 1oz

im going to end up pushing out a ten pound plus arent i why wont my midwife induce me early, shees so mean!!!

My first baby was 4 days late and weighed 9lb 7 I had a third degree tear and lost five pints of blood established labour was 8 hours. I was under consultant care with my second and they kept a close eye on his size with the result being if he measured big I would be given a section.

Needless to say I was bloody terrified I didnt want that experience again!

My second measured slightly bigger than average but not significant he was born 9 days early after 4 hrs of established labour and weighed 7lb 4oz..It was such a different experience to my first baby. Please try not to worry

Landon was 8lbs even and 21 1/4in long...9hr labor, 10min pushing born the day between his 2 due dates (I had been told April 11th and 13th at diff points in pregnancy, he was born the 12th)

Casen was 7lbs 3.2oz and 19in long...in labor a few hours before emergency csection born exactly a week early

Hayden 7lbs 6.1oz and 20in long...in labor a little under 6hrs, pushed a few times with one contraction born on his due date

Preston 7lbs 1oz 20in long...in labor over 24hrs completely induced my body never took over and had contractions on it's own (induction due to high blood pressure) pushed once born 3wks early

oooh i am about to make you feel better:

first: 11lb 6onz, was 2 weeks late, i had no gestational problems whatsoever
second: 7lb 13onz, was 1 week late, no gestational problems, weight predicted to be 9-10lbs at 40 weeks on 34 week scan

ohh both labours were 2 days with contractions 20mins apart, and then one day with contractions being back to back - so long - went into hospital with them 3 mins apart and was only 1cm, the first birth didnt progress due to his size, the second labour went from 1cm-4cm in 4 hours then 4cm-9cm in 1 hour 5 mins later i had involuntary pushes, 3 mins later baby was out

First Baby - Boy 7lbs 8oz. Born at 38 weeks. 4hr 25 min labour.

Second Baby - Girl 7lb 11oz. Born at 40 weeks on due date. 2 hour 14 min labour.

My DS would probably have weighed more then DD if he was born nearer to due date.

Alex was 2lb 14oz born at 27+4 - so thats quite big for that gestation.

We honestly thought the second would be a biggie, but at 40+2 she was 6lb 11oz - not the massive baby everyone expected!

1) Boy 36wks- induced due to low movement. Head turned so ended up with emerg section. Weighed 7lbs 13oz

2) Girl 32 wks due to preterm labor. Csection 5 lbs NICU 5 weeks

3) Boy 37 wks (has been trying for 10 wks to make an appearance) section weighing 8 lbs 4 oz!

my first 7lbs 5 days over 2nd 1 day late 6lbs14 3rd at 38 weeks he was 6lbs 5 ounces and brooke was 5lbs 14 ounces and she was 38+6.

mine have got smaller lol

some of you ladies have made me feel a lot better, so my girl really could be lighter or heavier then... would i be allowed to have a planned c section or must there be reasons for a c section? x
