As the title says, my daughter is 28 months old and only weighs 21lbs5oz. She's on the 2nd centile. She's always been small (born on her due date at 5lbs15oz), and has never ever gone through the "chubby baby" stage. Her tummy is completely flat, always has been. I've never been too concerned or worried, but I took my son (15 months) to be weighed last week and, at 13 months younger than her, he is 23lbs12oz! My 13 month old nephew also weighs more than my Lily.
She's very active, but her eating isn't great. The things she eats are healthy and good for her.. She just doesn't eat enough of them!

Anyone else got a petite toddler?

Yes, my DD1 was born 40+5 and only weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz. She is almost 2.5 years old and weighs 23 lbs. I think my DD2 will pass her up soon.

I've got two of them. My oldest was under 20lbs at his 2 year appt and my younger one was 16lbs at 1yr. My oldest never had the least bit of fat on him either. The younger one is the better eater, so it would surprise me if he reaches 20lbs a bit sooner than his brother did and may even surpass him someday. My oldest was 5lb 13oz at birth the younger one 7lb 2oz. So starting weight had nothing to do with it.

My LO was born 8 lb. and was just under 21 lb. at 15 months. I do think he's starting to gain more weight now, but he was never chubby like some babies. He's very active and is a somewhat picky eater.

My friend's kid is supposedly only 26 lb. at 5 years old and he seems fine!

My LO is 15 months and probably is barely just 20lbs. Petite and healthy.

27 months & 23 lbs

doesnt eat a lot, super active

26lbs at 5 yrs old and fine? thats weird, because i just watched a case about a boy who was starved almost to death under the stairs in a closet and he was 5 years old and 29 lbs and was about to die from being just skin and bones literally

I was thinking 26lbs at 5 years is too small. My Lo was26lb at 9 months, he is 38lb at 3 yrs 8 months, he is very active barely has any fat, he is tall too.

My DD is 4 years and is around 29pounds. She was actually a relatively big baby at 8lb 6oz but then straight away lost weight and never regained it. She's also fairly short for her age too, although does have long legs which give her the impression she's taller. She's never been through the chubby stage either. But she does have a big of a belly at times-usually after a pasta dinner.

In respect of the child who is 5 and 26 pounds that could actually be fine. All it takes is for the child to be short and skinny. My DD is nearly 5 and she won't put any wright on in the next few months. Ok she's 3pounds heavier than the 26 pounds but bit really that much. But she is healthy and happy.

Same here. My girl is the same age as yours and she is 22lbs, and my 11 month old son is 1/2lb heavier than her! Yet she is head and shoulders above him height-wise! :dohh: she was 5lbs at birth, he was 8 1/2lbs. She is just naturally slim - literally not a pick of fat on her! When she was a bit younger, she didn't eat that much, but she actually eats well now, and has healthy taste in food. Interestingly (sorry if TMI!) she has always done poos 3+ times a day - I wonder does her food pass through her rather than being absorbed the same. Anyway, I used to worry about her, but I now realise it is just the way she is meant to be! :flower:

Ds is heavy, but he's on a bigger centile for height than weight. He's eating last summers shorts, usually in age 3 or 3-4 but his shorts still fit his waist and they are 12-18m.
He's slim and does look skinny next to some chubbiers kids his age but he's fine.
If you hadn't weighed your lo would you have any concerns?
Xx

My LO is 26 months old and weighs 24.1 lbs. She's been tiny since around 6 months. Up until recently everyone used to comment that she looked too small to be walking!

Thanks for all your replies. I've always had concerns about her size/eating..I get her weighed regularly. The health visitor isn't "concerned" but is "keeping an eye" on her weight. She has her two and half year check up in a couple of weeks and they said they'll speak about her eating habits then.

I think what makes me think more about how small she is, is when my 15 month old is wearing bigger size nappies and bigger size clothes than Lily wears.. Although I know you're not supposed to compare children, and reading all the replies has made me feel a little more reassured that there's nothing to worry about. X

I have a small toddler, 24lbs at 24m. He was a real fat baby too. I did worry for a while, but he is just so active that it's silly to worry.

Both my boys are on the slim side (don't get that from me). Ds2 is 24lbs at 25 months. I'm not worried. They're both healthy active children so I'm sure they're fine.

Yeah 26 pounds to a five year old is not right. That is too small. I saw the same thing you are talking about on Dr. Phil and it showed pictures of the boy. He looked like he should be dead.

I guess my baby is fat. he doesn't have any chub on him so I don't know where. He weighs 27 pounds at 16 months and is almost 35 inches tall.

My DD2 (nearly 7) is petit, she's always been on the 2nd centile (height and weight), that's just her, nothing wrong with that, my other two are a bit bigger (DD2 -9th and DS -25th - last time we got them weighed) but they are all in proportion so it's grand, sometimes i struggle to work out their clothes when I'm putting them away and I've just pulled a skirt out (which she still wears) that is age 3!!! well at least she gets good wear out of her clothes!!!!!

Tabby is almost 3 (tomorrow!) and she only weighs 27.5lb. Tall and skinny!

Yup Poppy's tiny short and slim but Freya is bigger than her. They wear the same size. Perfectly healthy.
