MY Dopplers Suck :(

i have a cheapy angelsounds. With or without a full bladder i can pick up the HB, even if its not for long- as baby moves. I can also hear all the movements the baby makes in there too.

Make sure you look for the HB quite low down, i mean, start around your pubic bone!

its a parental listening device and not a doppler which is why you cannot pick up the babys heart beat. A parental listening device is best used later on in the pregnancy.

xx

loads of people will disagree with me but i really dont like dopplers. the one i hired caused me nothing but worry after i couldnt find the HB and the stress from that did me alot more harm than any reassurance it could or possibly brought. my consultant also tried to find the HB at 18 weeks and couldnt (although im not entirely sure he was looking in the right place as he seemed to be going too high up) and i had to be scanned to check everything was ok, i was a nervous wreck.
on top of that alot of ladies can become dependant on them for reassurance and it could mask a potential problem later on, this is why its important to monitor movements aswell, as even if HB is heard if movements have stopped or changed it still needs to be checked out once u are at a stage when u are kick counting.
not saying any of this to worry anyone, just my view on why i dont like them and why alot of MW's dont recommend them being used at home

I brought an Angelsounds one from Amazon bargain at £20 and found the heartbeat no problem have to use gel or water on tummy to pick anything up...i agree with the other poster you have to look quite low down.

so i gave it one more go last night, taking everyone advice & thoughts- i tried lower on my pubic bone/ hair etc.... just noise, i tried moving it slowly & that wasn't a good idea- i got a scratching sound in my ear lol :)

I think what last few women have said about it is right that its a listening device not a doopler for heart beat etc...

Going to pack it away till after xmas & will give it another go then. I have no reason to worry about bubs & i am seeing the Dr tomorrow so i am hoping he can check for sure. As i have said before i am just so keen to feel & look pregnant which i am not feeling either, its still so serial to me that after 8 years i am finally where i want to be in life :D i have dreamed & thought of this moment for years!! (like alot of you!)

i can't wait to look pregnant & to feel bubs moving about- at this point i don't care if bubs kicks my ribs or my lady bits!! :)

I really appreciate all your input :D thanks :hugs:

I have the HiBebe doppler and when I was pg with DS I could hear his HB from 10 weeks on. I also was given one like yours in a different brand and it sucked. Sorry to be so blunt. Just out of curiousity I would get it out once a month to see if I could hear his HB and it wasn't until 8 months that I could hear it.

You don't have a standard doppler hun.

1. Utilising Bell Stethoscope Method, not only will you be able to listen your unborn baby's heartbeat, but also hiccups and kicks

Yours is with a stethoscope which means you might be able to hear the hb from 20 weeks.. but alot of the times you wont be able to pick it up until much later on.. like 24-26 weeks.

hey no hurt feelings here ladies, i really like your honesty!! :) As i said its going away till after xmas/ new years when i will be over 20 (even 25) weeks along.

Not going to bother getting a new or different one, will drive myself crazy with it!! :) i have my 20 week scan in 3 weeks (well almost 2 weeks) time anyways- i can wait till then! If i was super worried i would have gone for a scan this week (scan referral i have doesn't have a date)
