My FS rang me tonite!! Need help with questions girls! Please..UPDATE!!!!!

Hello ladies
Hope you sdont mind but i need to know if any of you lovely ladies have any idea if there are any Questions i may leave out tomorrow nite!!
This is my last time on here until i get bk frm my FS app tomorrow nite!!
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME XX
I had a missed call on my mobile earlier,it was silent becus Ben wasnt feelin too great and i didnt want the noise annoyin him
It was a mobile number,so i rang it bk,i thought it was 1 of my hubbys mates ringing becus he was away at All Ireland match today
But it was my FS!!!
Woo hoo!! He mustve looked at his paperwork!
I know Sunday evenin seems a mad time but i didnt mind 1 bit!!
He wants to see us on Wednesday!! He said have all the questions you want to ask me,but all of a sudden my mind has gone blank!!
Could think of many last wk but now im so excited he got in touch its kinda shook me!!
So im askin you all wud you mind postin on here what you did ask and the questions you 4got and cud have kicked yourselves over please?

when i went they asked me alot of family history, how my cycles were then asked more info on them (because im not regular on cycles),if i smoked or drank, usually how often do u have intercourse, if i have any previous problems such as chelostrol etc. and asked about exercise, that was pretty much it for that time.....then said she wanted to have blood test done on me after looking at my charts from the past........told me what she thought it was and explained things pretty good...

then i had bloods done it confirmed what she thought and i went back she went over everything and i just asked how it would effect my trying and what the next steps were if things didnt work with the meds i was given...she was great and pin pointed what the problem was in about 10 minutes!

How exciting you can see him so soon.

I would ask him to explain what your options are (including costs), then ask if he were in your shoes what plan of attack would he take. For all the choices ask about success rates, and make sure that info is for ladies in your age bracket - it's easy to massage figues when you include younger ladies data. Ask how long waiting times are. If yuo have to pay, ask about payment schemes or any other things that can help with the cost. Maybe be part of a trial if there's something suitable.

Maybe ask for an AMH test - this gives a better idea about egg reserves than FSH does. He might even scan you. What CD are you on just now.

Just go with the flow really, but make sure you have your questions written down, and tick them off as you ask them/he covers them, and don't be afraid to write notes either - you're not expexted to remember everything!

Hi Babycarey,

Before my first FS apointment I tried to imagine being at the appointment and how the conversation would go. I would then try to envisage what the FS might suggest and see if I was happpy with that. This started to give me some questions that I definitely wanted to ask and also helped me decide what I wanted from the appointment and more importantly what I would be dissapointed with!

I guess what I am trying to say, albeit in a muddled way, is that each couple are different and so the questions you need to ask may be specific to you. Do you have any idea of what your next step might be? and also what tests have you had already? Make sure that if you havent had them already that you get the basics of day 4 (LH, FSH, Oestradiol) and day21 (progesterone) bloods, sperm samples to check male factor and then possibly something to check your tubes.

FSH is follicle stimulating hormone - which is how much effort your body needs to make to produce follicles/eggs. a number below 10 is good.

AMH is anti-mullerian hormone (not really sure what it is), but the results give an indication of how many follicles you can expect to produce each cycle.

My FSH was 10.2, so not too bad, but my AMH was really low, meaning I have very little chance of ever being able to stimulate more than 6 follicles in a cycle - and with IVF the more follicles the better (to a certain extent) as it's all a numbers game.

As I said before, ask aboput your options, timeframes, costs, success rates, what he thinks is best for you.

I'm also in NI - and have just been referred to antrim hospital - i rang to find out about wait times - and a really rude women told me i should hear something in 6 months and hung up!!! Not impressed! I had asked my GP to make my referral to the Rvh (obviously not listening!) How did you go about finding a private fs?? did u just have to pay for an initial consultation? I would love to hurry things up a bit but so scared of the cost !

Im in Fermanagh
I was told by my gynae doctors secretary it wud b 6months also!!
But she was lovely!! I said does he do private?She said YES!!
Now i think its goin to cost us around £200 to see him tomorrow but its pushin us up the list which means savin 6months wait!!Good news!!
I didnt have to wait 2weeks to see him after referral and then asked him to see us private! I feel its money well spent
Yes we r willin to pay for the initial consultation,but will see how it goes!
He told me on Sunday evenin a lotta people do that just to get up the list then go onto NHS for any treatment needed,seemingly once you go private it doesnt mean you have to stay there!!
Think hes scannin me tomorrow,and im so excited,i just wanna make sure i forget NOTHING!!lol
You shud ring her bk and ask about seein him privately!!
