Hi there, Just popping in to give a little update on our IVF cycle. I started the nasal spray Aug 22nd, had my 14 day blood test, body seems to be responding as it should to the nasal spray - good news. Yesterday, I started my injections, how exciting! My lovely friend is a nurse and is happy to do the first couple, then watch DH and I to make sure we are doing it right! The injection didn't hurt, just a bit of a sting when the fluid went in - I injected in my thigh, wasn't keen on the belly.

Emotionally, the down regging has not been very nice, I have been quite moody, and not a very nice person to my poor hubby. Today, I feel a lot brighter, better than I have in weeks. I am not sure if that is due to the drugs, or maybe I am feeling more positive in general. This time next week, we will have our scan to see how many follicles are growing, how everything is going, please, please let me have responded! My only worry is that if I am not having any side effects from the injections, does that mean they are not working? Should I now view side effects as a comfort rather than a nusiance? Oh the roller coaster ride we are all on!!!

Does it take awhile for the injections to kick in???

Sending you all lots of :hug:

Thanks for reading, good to talk about it!

Just wanted to say good luck hunni - I really hope its good news for you re the follies.

Hi there! Good to hear that the treatment is all going to plan. Sorry, I don't know about the side effects and I can understand your concern, although I suppose if your not getting any that would certainly be a bonus?!?

Good luck to you both:dust::dust:

Thats so great that you're in your cycle! Wishing you sooooooooooo much luck x

I did a few shots in my thigh but honestly, I found the tummy heaps better, they stung in my thigh but rarely in my tummy. Make sure you sit up though if you do them in the tum, grab a chunk of fat or skin and in you go.

With side effects, nope, you can't really trust them. I had hardly any side effects and I was a late responder. They thought they'd had to cancel our cycle because I had hardly any good sized follies, but a few extra days of shots and they just grew and grew! I know of girls who have had their cycles cancelled due to poor response but have had the worse side effects ever, and girls that have got 15-20 eggs with 0 side effects.

I was on lucrin shots instead of the spray, and about 8 or so days in I had some headaches and was tired and that was it. From puregon shots (FSH) I don't think I had any side effects. I was an emotional wreak from my first scan (because they didn't think we'd make it any further in the cycle) extremelly teary, I would cry all the time, but I blame that on me not responding, not the drugs!!!

I don't think I had any side effects from the drugs until after embyro transfer. I was loaded up on progesterone and the ovidril (trigger shot) was still in my system so I was water works like you've never seen. Again, it was the TWW and the whole process that did it, but the drugs ontop of it all just made it 10000 x worse. I cried over absolutely anything and everything! I even cried to a fucking backstreet boys song one day :rofl:

Keep us updated on how your cycle is going!!!

I can't say I can really remember any particular side effects from the stimming other than by the time we got to EC I was quite bloated.

I'd agree with FJL that tummy jabs are easier to bear than thigh ones. I used to lean forward to get a nice roll and squeeze it quite tightly before injecting.

Good luck with the scan. I hope it shows the right number of follicles for you.
