Just curiosity really! Has anyone chosen names they will give to their future children?

We have but we have also said if the name doesnt suit we are open to change, but I also believe they grow into their names (IYKWIM?) We chose one of our girls names after my sister who passed away when she was a baby.

Anyone want to share? :flower:

Hi,

We've chosen our names already! Although I suppose they could change depending on how long it takes to conceive, but we do love them so hopefully they won't.

They are Freya-Rose and Seth. What are the names that you have chosen? What a lovely idea, naming after your late sister.

We have chosen Laila-Marie for a girl, Marie was my sisters name. Alfie Thomas for a boy.

We have also picked out Eva Kate and Eleanor Jane for future girls and Jayden Ryan and Calum George for future boys.

I love the name freya gorgeous :flower:

Well, we're still up in the air about a few things. Since you bring this up, I hope you don't mind if I hi-jack for a second? I promise I'll get to the baby names... I like the idea of doing a hyphenate of our last names, he thinks it's a mouthful (and to be honest, that's true, but I still like the idea!). So I get that the last name means more to him than it does to me, so I want the kids to have something from my family as a middle name, and then I think we should agree on the first name. I think that sounds fair... But he wants to let his mother name one of our girls because she never had any girls! I don't know if I am being ridiculous, but I really don't want that, I feel really prematurely offended to possibly not have ANY PART in the naming of one of my children. I don't even like the name that she's had in mind for years. Super plain - not that I dislike it on others, it does sound nice, but way too plain for my liking for my own children.

I would really like to give our sons middle names to be my maiden name and my mother's maiden name, but I have some lee-way there... Could also do father's name and maternal grandfather's, etc. etc. But I want to represent my family somewhere in there. I want my family to be represented too! Then the girls I'd like to give either mother's/grandmother's middle names, or just super Irish middle names.

But I digress... The first names that I love for girls are Maisy and Eleanor, and we've discussed Max for a boy. :)

Wow, we have really similar name tastes! Leila (I always picture it spelled with an e, but I assume we mean the same pronunciation :)) is also at the top of my list, as is Calum :)

I would stand your ground if its something you really want, why shouldn't your family be represented in some way! Also I think you should have say in what your baby girl should be called, maybe you and your OH make up a list of girls names you really like and then go and discuss it with OH's mother and let her pick one from your list? :flower:

Ohh we do have similar name tastes, we had a big massive list of names and these are the top of ours :flower:

BUT.. I've already thought of a few names I like for #2 - I just haven't yet run them past OH.

Im really liking Grace-Louise & Elise-Rose for girls names.
& boys middle name HAS to be Joseph. not sure on first name yet...
we're WTT until January 2014.

I like your idea Amalee! I totally want a middle name to be something from my family. I'd push for a hyphenated name but that would end up being 5 syllables... Probably too much.

As for names I like Clara, Elena, Lilly and Iris for girls and we really like Orrin, Callum, Davan and Alexander for boys. It is one of my favourite pastimes, dreaming up names :flower:

my names would have to be

girls:
Lily Rose
Olivia Jane

havent picked out any boys names yet... although I like Adrian and Jason for boys names..

Had these names for a while

Lewis for a boy & Maci for a girl :happydance:

I suppose they might change after a while though.

Def agree Amalee stand your ground and don't let your MIL name your girl!!!!!!!

I like middle names to have some kind of meaning and not just be a 'nice' sounding name. DS has my hubby's name as his middle name, if we have a boy I like the idea of Joshua Alexis (as 2 seperate names) I just love Joshua, and I know Alexis isn't the nicest or most masculine of names but iti s my Dad's middle name and my Nanna gave it to my Dad as it was her dad's name, so it must have been an important name to her so I like the idea of passing it on. If we have a girl I would like her middle name to be Ellen because it is mine and my Grandmother's middle name, I am contemplating Lila-Ellen because that would be my Nanna's too. First names I like Poppy or Grace. xx

Right now my favourite names are

Declan
Finley
Elliot/Elijah nn Eli

Paisley Rose

I love the idea of giving them your last name as a middle name! But I'd want to give my kids all the same middle name haha.

i always find it really funny how a lot of pregnant people refuse to tell you what name they've picked. like i would ever say 'ugh no you cant have that one'!!!?

love all your choices!! i love Maisy and Alfie. My grampa is Alfie (he's 89) and i'm really close to him and i havent told him but i know he will be touched. and i will make sure my son knows all about the wonderful man he is being named after. I also like Caitlyn or Isobel or Elsie, and Marley or Oscar or Freddy. I always loved Dylan and never knew any growing up, but now i have 6 in my class at school and in a class of 13 thats pretty much half the class!! and hubby always liked oliver but i've had a really badly behaved oliver that has totally put me off the name!! its sad but you just cant help being put off!! i know i want my children to have Welsh middle names but cant decide what they will be yet... I like Seren or Enfys or Carys for girls, Rhys is the only boys one hubby will consider at the mo. opps sorry this has turned out quite long!! xx

I like the name Lyric for a girl and have no idea why... or Lyrica. It does have meaning to me and my OH, but it's a long long story. :)
And as for a boy, not amazingly sure yet!

Made myself a cup of tea...nope still don't like it! [\quote]

You'll be surprised, some of the comments I got were awful- from my own loving family lol! It's like some people think because the baby isn't here yet they have free reign and can even change your mind lol. Having said that I hate when people gleefully say 'we're not saying' as if I actually care that much, I'm showing an interest I'm not gonna lose sleep over it or anything! I never did the whole referring to Elliot as Elliot either until he was born even though I knew that would be his name, I don't know why but I was never comfortable with that, I wanted to meet him first. So we kept people off our backs by saying we would name him once we met him lol! Looooove the name Alfie :) xx

Awww loving some of the names especially Amalee.

Mine are Sofia Mae and Luca Jaxon. Although hubby not totally convinced on Luca yet, he thinks it's a girl's name.

At the moment, Elizabeth Anna (Beth for short) and Henry James are my two top names. It changes really frequently though!
