Do you have one?
I think we need one, though no idea what to do!

Alex usually throws a tantrum when we put his sleeping bag on and im thinking were not giving him notice that its naptime so its not surprising hes doing it!

We don't have one either... I just put Seren down when she's showing signs that she's tired. Sometimes she kicks off, sometimes she doesn't, but when she does it's only normally for a couple of mins then she settles.

Yes! I have no choice or Chloe and Jaycee wake up of a night.

They only have one nap and its from about 12.30pm til 2pm! During the week they are at nursery so they fall asleep in the car on the way home, at the weekends if we are at home then they will normally be put into their cots awake and they settle themselves. They go off to sleep and if they dont wake themselves up at 2pm I go in and wake them but no later than 2.15pm. It is pretty much the same every day!
They were very grumpy for 2 or 3 days but I just took them for walks with the puppy or to the park or to see my mum and dad and they were fine after that. Now they know when I come in to wake them they have to get up if they arent awake themselves already. I give them a bottle and a snack and then they go to bed for the night at about 7.15pm

recently we have been having lunch then Isobelle will cuddle with me for a bit and i will take her up to go to sleep

previous to that it was she was tired and fell asleep where-ever we were really

I didnt want to get into too much of a routine after seeing my frends little girl and she could only sleep in her bed so couldnt go out at night or out for the day so i have been quite flexable scared that isobelle would be the same lol

Alex will sleep in his pram without any probs so thats not an issue thankfully.

I mean more like a routine like you would have for bedtime, like alex knows he has his bath then his milk and he goes to bed shortly after.

When Caitlyn was down to 1 nap if she was awake later than 2pm she had to stay up until bedtime xx

I think im getting misunderstood here :dohh:

I dont mean a routine in what time he has his nap at, i mean a routine before he goes down for one! Like a story or something.

Ohhh! So he knows that it's naptime next? Story would work x

No we don't have a naptime routine, but I settle her in the exact same way so it's consistent. I put her in her sleeping bag and say 'time for a little sleep now' in a soft voice, and if she cries I just keep repeating 'It's time for a sleep now Ruby' in the same tone of voice then when she is calm leave the room. Repeat as necessary!
Maybe you could start just telling him that it will be time for a sleep soon?

Well Amelia knows that after she has her lunch its a 5/10min rest then a clean bum then she goes down for a nap.

So after she has lunch she knows that it will be nap time soon.

I use a trigger phrase, and then a very short little routine. I'll tell her that it's sleepytime, and keep telling her that as we go upstairs. Then I change her nappy, and put her into her sleeping bag. We go over to the window, say "night night" to the world (even if it's 10am :dohh:), and she helps me close the curtains. I fish her blankie out of the cot and give her that to cuddle whilst she gets one verse of "Over The Rainbow". She gets put down around the last line, I turn the monitor/nightlight on, and back out of the room, repeating "sleepytime, sleepytime", until the door is closed.

Until yesterday, that has worked an absolute treat. And the problems yesterday and today have simply been down to us having to be out during her naptime :(

yep we do. Hannah always goes down at some point after lunch between 1 and 2 (usually 1:30) and I take her up about 15 minutes prior and let her choose 3 books to read. Once I've read them we turn on the fan, shut the blinds and than I put her in bed and tell her night night

I'm not sure how old your LO is - but Lily (who has just turned 2), she starts her nap time between midday and 1pm - it's abit more flexible now she's older, and she sleeps for 2 hours.

Usually Lily's naptime is not long after her lunch. I just ask her to get her speical monkey and I give her what I call her 'nap time dummy' - she only has a dummy for sleepy times. So these are the props I use. Then we go upstairs, then I put on her naptime music (which I've done since she was small) and then she's off to sleep. Sometimes she rolls around for a bit and goes off after 1/2 hour. But usually it's problem free.

Maybe introducing something that you do everytime before the daytime nap will help let your LO what is happening.

We generally have lunch then lie on the bed while he has a cup of milk and read of his book then he will go into his cot around 1230-1 for about 2 hours.Today though we both fell asleep on the bed for 2 hours lovely!

With little guy, I follow the same sort of routine as with his going to bed for the night. Basically, the curtains will be closed and I'll tell him that Mr. Sun's going to take a nap so it's time for him to take a nap too. Then, I lay him in his bed and give him his bear and soother if he wants it. Finally, I'll put on the radio really low and mention to him that I love him a lot and will see him once he gets back from nappy-land.

Most times that'll work well. Obviously when his routine is messed up or he's not feeling so great, it'll take more time to settle.

In that case no! They just go to sleep when I put them in bed. Its always the same time but they dont know what time is lol

When Rowan starts looking or acting sleepy, I give her some food and change her nappy if she hasn't had either recently, then I take her to her bedroom and give her Ted-Ted to cuddle while I breastfeed her; usually I read her a story or some poems. If she's not really drowsy by the time we finish the breastfeed, I discontinue the whole thing and let her go napless.
