I have been naughty recently. Since Saturday evening I have had 15 root beer floats. I just can't help myself. They taste so good. And it has been so hot recently that I just want cold things. And their is nothing better than floats in my opinion. Anyone else been naughty recently having things in excessive amounts that they probably shouldn't.

This made me laugh - 15!! I haven't had a root beer float in years but I bet I am at the store within the hour to pick up some root beer and ice cream. Thanks for the yummy idea!

Oh my gosh. They are the best thing ever. Can't believe don't have them in the UK. You should try making one. It is just scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and Root Beer soda poured on top. The mixture of the two of them is the best taste ever.

Ohhhh I get you, like an ice cream soda! Sounds like a good idea to me, I might have to get some fizzy pop and ice cream. You really can have them with anything, chocolate and cream soda, vanilla and apple tango or lilt.

I'm really annoyed at this thread - I have nothing in the cupboards (trying to use up old stuff before doing a big restock) and all I want to do is go to Asda and buy lots of nice things!

Fruit is my obsession, was nectarines in 2nd tri and then strawberries and cherries. Think it's mango now, lol! Although I am drinking at least a pint of milk a day and craving chocolate milkshakes and raspberry slush puppies. Ooh and coconut ice cream, which is weird because I don't really like coconut.

You can get root beer in the UK, although I can't stand the stuff. My sister loves it - but also ice cream floats made with cream soda - do you have that in the US ladies?

I went through a fruit phase, I guess it could be a lot worse! Have you tried fresh coconut Ostara? I don't like the dessicated coconut in cakes and sweets but I love it fresh!

Asda sells Carter's Root Beer in cans in the UK - my DH gets it as a treat every now and again.

I really want a lemonade float now - haven't had one for years.

I've never tasted root beer - what is it like? I'm not sure about fizzy drink with ice cream, although think I did have it as a kid. I ate a whole tub of Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream the other night which was Very Naughty but sooooo good! I'm also guzzling frutini ice lollies at the moment as they are so refreshing in this heat

Yes, it's like a cola, but it has a spiced flavor to it. Stole this from wikipedia as it is a good description: "The primary ingredient, artificial sassafras flavoring, is complemented with other flavors. Common flavorings are vanilla, wintergreen, cherry tree bark, licorice root, sarsaparilla root, nutmeg, acacia, anise, molasses, cinnamon, clove and honey."

The taste is hard to describe, but it's delicious!

Yes, we have cream soda as well in the US. I enjoy floats made out of cream soda too

Never have had cream soda. May have to try some now. Sounds kind of good. What flavor would you all say is the best?

I'm so mad. Went home yesterday so much looking forward to having another float. Dreamed about it all day. Got home, went straight to the freezer, and... NO ICE CREAM! I couldn't believe it. My husband had finished up the last little bit. I was so mad, and to top it off he said didn't have any money to go get more till get paid this weekend and go shopping again.
