hey hun. congrats on ur lo sounds like shes doin fab. our nicu didnt have a specific weight they had to reach, they just had to feed n breath.
hopefully she wont b there too long xx
Each hospital is different and it all depends on how well baby is doing.
Where we were discharged from, babies had to be 36 weeks gestation and weighing out 4 pound, they also had to have had no apena's or bradies for a week, had a week off the monitor and taken full feeds for 72 hours xxxx
Niamh was born at 35 weeks and had she not got jaundice we would have only been in for 48 hours while she had her antibiotics as she was feeding well at first untill she got sleepy.
Ours didn't have a gestation or weight limit. As soon as they were breathing unsupported and all feeds had been taken by breast/bottle for 24-48hrs they could come home.
It varies from unit to unit about how 'cautious' they are and therefore their policies on gestation/weight/need to have been doing x for x length of time before discharge all vary.
