how long was your LO on it before you saw an improvement? my LO seems worse not better did anyone else find this? also for thouse whos LO had reflux to did you find it was worse after starting neocate?
we tried straight swap but no luck hes already rejected nutramigen, pepti junior, etc so this is last resort before the really expensive stuff!! dietician said just take a little longer to switch him over, we started him on 1/2 oz to 6.5oz soy!!
I read somewhere (a random Australian leaflet online) that neocate is watery - so can make reflux seem worse than it is?!?!? Not sure if that is true.
Maddie won't take a bottle so I've been hiding it in her breakfast cereal, we noticed her reflux got worse - but we think that's potentially a gluten allergy She had hives all over her torso which cleared up as soon as we stopped it...
My lo is on elecare (kindof like coke to pepsi soda compairing to neocate)
He was on it due to a milk allergy not reflux butt he did spit up more with it si i added a bit of baby oatmeal to his bottles to thicken it up it helped a lot!
In regaurds to seeing a change within 24 hrs i noticed a change and within 3 days he was a completly different baby
Edit: just read your signature and that he has cmpa as well, it can take up to 6 weeks for all the milk protein to leave them. Keelan was better within around 2 weeks.
Saw an improvement within a few days. I do think its thinner though. Are you adding gaviscon to it? Also maybe your LO needs stronger reflux meds? whats he/she currently on?x
we stopped gaviscon coz it was constipating him.
hes currently on 0.3ml of ranitidine 3 x a day. hes 6 weeks n weighs 9lbs.
since starting neocate 2 days ago hes now not pooing which is makin him annoyed too.
Have you heard of carobel to thicken the milk? its similar to gavsicon so all natural and wont cause constipation. 0.3mls is a low dose so may need ajusting? ranitidine didnt work for my lg so swapped to Omeprazole. theres been a big improvement since then x
My daughter was on neocate for CMA but I was convinced it was reflux. The neocate didn't make any difference, we were prescribed gaviscon and it made a big difference to the vomitting, but she is still in pain so is also now on ranitidine 0.3ml 3 times a day. She has only been on it for a few days but there is no difference as yet... How long does the ranitidine take to work?
Ranitidine should only take a few days to work if its going to. As i said in PP 0.3mls is the starting dose and very low. It often needs to be increased. Also it isnt usually that successful or only for a short while. You need Omeprazole x

my lo was 11lb 2 and on 0.7ml x 3 per day, then 13 2 and up to .9ml x 3 per day, it'll need adjusting every couple of weeks (or at least every month with prescription) pharmacist can double check the dosage as well
