Is it just my OH who can't seem to understand my need to get the nursery ready? Over the last week I've had really strong urges to get everything ready and have managed to get the room painted now. My pram came last weekend and OH said I should leave it in the box so it doesn't get dusty. I just ignored him and got it out anyway, I love seeing it there and thinking that there will be a
little one in there soon.

So now the cot has arrived and I want to get it all put together and ready but OH won't do it and obviously its not a job I can really do myself. He just keeps saying 'well baby isn't going to use it for ages anyway'. Am I being daft??

Not at all my full nursery furniture has been up for about a month!!! I just like going in and looking at all. I have washed most of the baby clothes and put nappies away!!! Even my DH keeps going in and saying " Come on Mason time to get up" haha we are not right in our heads

I haven't bought much yet, but if I had I would be wanting to put it up and set it all up ready. It's nice to look at and makes it more exciting. :) All I have is the pram, and it is at someone elses house because of my mums superstitions.. :| but i can't wait to get it to play with :D haha.

Not at all, I love getting everything ready for the little baba!
In fact, I have nothing to do now and have taken to packing + re-packing my hospital bag, 'just to check' and re-organising the baby clothes in various ways...

Your not daft!

We finished our nursery (bar making up the cot bedding & moses basket) last weekend cos I needed to start packing away her clothes. My mums helping me wash all her blankets and clothes and I'm even gonna start organising her toiletries!

It just makes it all seem more real to me, and I hate to see things in bags everywhere :D

your totally normal! give him a kick up the bum from all of us! lol. My cot's been up for about 2 months and still got 5 weeks to go, my dad offered to do it when he helped us move to save coming back to do it lol! And I nagged and nagged about doing the border which is now done, all I've got left to do is hang some pictures which I can do myself. Like you I've had the pram out, car seat out, practiced, tidied stuff, its lovely going in there and seeing it all :)
However your OH isn't the only one not budging, my friend had her baby about 8 weeks ago, his room is still awaiting assembly! Not sure how she's contained herself! lol x

You OH sounds just like mine. He didn't see the point of getting the baby's room ready when she wouldn't be sleeping in there straight away as she will be in our room for quite a few months.

I hired a guy to paint the room... and then when our furniture arrived hubby helped put together the wardrobe and then I did the changer by myself as he didn't want to do anymore. Then I wanted him to help me put the cot together and he had a moan, but finally did it.

MEN!!! They just don't understand. I wanted everything perfect and that's how most of us mums are. The other week hubby was talking to the baby in my belly and said "Olivia, I didn't do anything in your room" I just laughed.

No of course you aren't being daft!!!

Sounds like I'm one of the lucky ones - my husband couldn't wait to get the nursery done bless him!

It is worthwhile getting it all done - what if there is a problem with some of the parts and you need to send something back or get replacements? That wouldn't be very good if you wait until LO needs to move in there.

We had a problem with our cot-top changer and thought we were going to have to get some replacement bolts from m+p's because the heads just went smooth, but luckily one of DH's friends at work had some that fit.

I also didn't want loads of paint fumes around the house when baby arrives - especially if you have any glossing to do. It took ages for the smell to go after DH did ours so I'm glad we have it done now.

Even if your baby isn't going to be sleeping in there at first, it is still going to be a place to store all of the clothes and things - where will they go if there is nothing to put them in????

Give him a kick up the bum love and tell him to stop being so silly lol

I'm gonna get the stuff out of the boxes later on and then maybe he will be spurred into action!

We got the cot out of the loft a couple of weeks ago, and I put it up myself - I always do. If he wont help you, have a go yourself. And when you have done it, it will make him feel crap for not helping you! My OH hates me putting stuff together - it makes him feel useless, but it doesnt make him help me sooner though!!

Excellent plan, he's off out this afternoon so I'll do it then! How hard can it be??

Go you! There should only be 5 or 6 pieces of wood, and as many screws. Good luck x

You are definitely not being daft!!

I went thro a nesting thing a couple of weeks ago. Gutted the spare room (in the hope it would spur DH on to making a start on decorating it) and cleaned my kitchen from top to bottom!

I also made DH get down all the baby clothes boxes from the attic so I could look out the neutral stuff. Turns out that particular box is buried at the back of the garage - DH has still to dig it out and thinking of asking him to try today.

Really want the nursery done by christmas - which is now less than 6 weeks away!! Need to get lining paper up before painting and my dad says he'll help so arranging a nice shopping day at the end of the month with my mum and sister while my dad and DH tackle the decorating.
