Hi and Happy New Year to everyone :)

I have been stalking this website since DH and I started TTC. I have finally come out from behind the curtain to join in and ask a few questions. Sorry if some of them have been asked already.

A little history...Me-35 going on 36 this May (already! when did that happen?) DH-33. We were married last June and started TTC during the honeymoon. I don't count June as my start month though because with all the stress of the wedding my cycle was off. I have had irregular cycles for at least 6 years now and my ob/gyn told me years ago that as long as I'm having 4-6 cycles a year that's normal. I was having anywhere from 10-12 so I thought I was ok. Anyways I started to chart my cycles just to get a grasp on them and so far they look ok. In November I went to my family doctor and asked him to do fertility blood work. I had about 10 vials of blood taken, a pelvic u/s, breast u/s and a thyroid u/s. DH had SA done last April and he is normal. My blood work all came back ok except my thyroid which was high. My pelvic u/s came back showing either a polyp or mucus plug. He asked that I redo my u/s and thyroid blood test. In the mean time I was also referred to an Endocrinologist. My second Thyroid test came back slightly higher so the endo put me on a low dose of Synthroid. Today I just got back my second u/s results showing a small endocervical polyp. I have an appointment with my gyno Jan 18 to see if it should be removed or left.

So that's my history and here are my 2 questions
1) Has anyone had any experience with a cervical polyp? Does that interfere with TTC in any way?
2) When did you go get additional help for TTC? I'm getting mixed opinions from friends to family to even DH. He says we should keep trying the natural way before getting any other help.

Thanks for your help and may 2013 bring health and happiness to all :)

Hello! I didn't want to read & run but unfortunately i have no experience of having any cervical polyps so can't offer any advice but one of the lovely ladies on here should be able to help you. In terms of ttc I would suggest just trying to stay positive on the whole journey, try not to stress too much (which is easier said than done) and temp/chart if you choose too. Good luck and hope you get your :bfp: asap x

By last June, do you mean June 2012 or June 2011? Technically for women who are over 35, they suggest seeing fertility specialist after 6 months of trying (at least in the US). I waited about 1 year before I went to see one. From a clinical perspective, I think it is suggested that you be aggressive as quickly as possible over 35. But from a patient perspective, (for me personally) it takes time to move forward. Fertility treatment can be hard on the body and mind and also on the pocket. It's been 4 months since I've seen the FS and we are still trying naturally but I know that we have to move on with treatment as soon as we can. Good luck! I hope you get your BFP soon!

Thanks ladies for your replies.

charm2mama--We've been trying since June/July 2012. This month we will try one more time naturally and then seek some help. When I go to the gyno this month I will bring up my struggle and see what she says. I don't like my gyno and have a scheduled appt in Feb to see a new one, but I didn't want to wait that long to get my polyp looked at.

Thanks again and I hope you all have success this year.

Dragon, I can't answer question #1, but question #2 is entirely up to you, once you've met whatever time requirements your region/insurance has. Some women want it right away, others prefer to try on their own for a while.

Since you're 35+ and TTC #1, why don't you post these questions on The Best Thread on the Internet:

I know women there have dealt with polyps, so you should get some answers. :hugs:
