DH (24) and I (21) have been ttc since 10/13 and finally got a bfp (both our first) in late June. I mc'd at 8wks, with bleeding and horrible cramping starting on 8/17. Went to the hospital on 8/21 and they confirmed it. I bled until 8/26, then it stopped for a week and I spotted a little on 9/1 for just one day.

Today (9/9) makes almost exactly two weeks since I stopped bleeding, minus the one day of spotting. I've had no symptoms, no cramping or bleeding since. Should I be ovulating? Doc said we could ttc soon as the bleeding stopped, and we have been because we wanted this so badly.

Haven't had a visit from AF yet, but before bfp I only got it a few times a year, anyway. Any ideas on when I should be ovulating, or the chances I'm already pregnant again? Infertility runs very lightly on my dad's side (1/6 siblings) and does not run on my mom's side, or either of DH's parents... I know it's silly to be so desperate for a baby at only 21, but we were so happy about the bfp... it breaks my heart twice as much because DH was so sad.

Any advice..?

Ovulation post-lost varies greatly from woman to woman. OPKs and/or temping are the best way to tell. You can buy OPKs at the drugstore near the pregnancy tests. Also, have you determined whether all of the HCG is out of your system? Getting a negative pregnancy test will do that. Otherwise, you can get false positives on OPKs and other pregnancy tests because leftover HCG will cause both of those tests to turn positive.

Also, do you know what's causing you to only have periods a couple of times a year? Have you been screened for PCOS? That can affect your fertility, so I would consult with your doctor, if you haven't already. Infertility doesn't have to be herititary. Since you were TTC almost a year before the loss (which is the milestone for fertility testing/treatment) your doctor should at least be willing to see you and run some preliminary tests. Since you got pregnant, it's probably nothing, but sporadic periods can be cause for concern, so I would at least get tested and make sure everything is ok! More periods = more opportunities to try! ;-)

I'm so sorry for your loss, hun. It's so unfair. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you start TTCAL. :hugs:

I have never been "officially" diagnosed with PCOS but when they took out my appendix when I was 15 or so they said there was a cyst on my ovary that they drained. It hasn't given me any issues since then. My insurance just expired and I lost my job when I told them I was pregnant so income is tight right now and I can't renew the insurance to go see a doctor about it. I applied for Medicaid but they yanked it after the MC.

If you can't see a doctor now, I would recommend temping. It's the cheapest way to find out how often you're ovulating. All you need is a thermometer. Test first thing in the morning. Free websites like Fertility Friend will let you track your temps and other data. A big spike in temp that's sustained for a few days will confirm that you ovulated. Higher progesterone levels post-ovulation cause women's temperatures to rise. That will at least give you an idea of how often you're ovulating and when in each cycle you usually ovulate. OPKs are easy, but they can get expensive.

If you don't get another BFP before you get insurance again, that info will be really helpful for your doctor. I brought 3 months of charts to my OB that showed my cycles were unusual and she was willing to immediately order testing. It will just mean you're that much further to getting answers later, if you're still trying.
