i used AVENT bottles with joshua and didnt have any problem with them so i have bought some more for this baby.

they are the BPA free ones, but its got an extra valve thingy that goes in the screwy bit of the bottle.

what is this for?

I think its supposed to help with wind/colic.

Dont see how it works personally but mine have them too

yes but the old ones i had for joshua (not that old just not BPA free) didnt have them.
i thought that the teat is designed for that.

i didnt have no problems with them with joshua.

they dont look like there are gonna do much.

Have you bought the anti colic ones?

Like Tommee has ones without these and with ...

Thats all I can think of

i thought all avent bottles where anti colic.

on the box it just says 3x avent BPA free bottles.

Are they the Airflex ones? They are the ones I have, which let the air in, so anti colic, they just have the white rim and the teat.
I haven't seen, and cant find online , any that different.
What does the valve thing look like?

ooh found this on the avent site:

Allows air into the bottle instead of your baby's tummy

The two piece anti-colic system consists of the AVENT Teat and adapter ring. As your baby feeds, the unique skirt on the AVENT Teat flexes to allow air into the bottle instead of your baby's tummy. As with breastfeeding, your baby controls the milk flow.

The picture of the outside of the bottle looks just like mine, so I assume this new adaptor (if thats what yours have), is a new version?

I've got these for Tom. You can hear the air going in when he's drinking and he's much better on them than Tomee Tippee ones.

Just make sure you push the ring down really tightly when you make up the bottles - they leak otherwise.

so your saying that the older ones that doesnt have the ring wasnt anti colic?

i thought the teat made them anti colic.

really i thought they were, what they saying these new ones do the old ones used to say.

Hi,

Here in Canada - Avent did the bottles with disposable liners inside (BPA free). I thought they were brilliant as the liner collapsed as my baby drank, therefore taking out all the air. Now for some unknown reason Avent stopped selling these bottles but I know they are still for sale in the USA.

Not sure if they sell them in the UK or if a similar brand of these bottles are for sale.

Mrs N you are right

The ones I have which just have the plain white ring (no separate blue bit ) definitely ARE anti colic as the airflex teat allows the air to go back in. As they suck you can see and hear the bubbles going back into the bottle from under the white ring.
I bought these last March and as far as I can tell these are now the 'old' version.
