Hi there i'm new to this site and need some advice. My name is Sara, and i have a 6 week old baby girl called Keira. A couple of weeks ago she went from feeding 3-4oz every 3-4 hours to draining a 4oz bottle every 3 hours so the HV suggested upping her to 5oz. She then settled into feeding 4-5oz every 4-5 hours but over the last couple of days has become really fussy on the bottle. When we wind her she is not interested in taking the bottle back ad refuses to take it, it is becoming a struggle to get 3 oz in her. But she is wanted feeding every 2-3 hours now but only taking a couple of oz per feed. I have sent my boyfriend out to get some variflow teats as i thought the milk might not be flowing fast enough for her and she is getting fed up.

Any thought/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Sara + Keira xxx

Hi,

My little one was exactly the same, guzzled until 6 weeks and then stopped and fought the bottle when I tried to feed her, it was only by luck that I was feeding her in front of my HV during hearing test when she noticed it was silent reflux. Not saying your little one has but may be a thought and worth getting checked out

xx

Thanks, well i'm off down to the baby clinic tomorrow anyway to get her weighed so will speak to the health visitor about her feeding. It just feels like we're moving backwards. Like you say it may be nothing. I panic all the time, being a first time mum though i guess thats normal.

We had something like that after the first growth spurt. At about 4 weeks he upped his intake, and then about a week later it dropped right down again before gradually building back up.

If the weight gain is normal and there are no obvious problems, it's probably nothing to worry about.
