hi ladies,

well i have been on baby and bump for a while but mainly been in pregnancy testing gallery hoping to see lines hehe that was never gonna come!...

my hubby has anti sperm which means we have a minimal chance of concieving, we have been ref for IVF, our funind has come through from NHS and now aiting for our first appt with NURTURE NOTTINGHAM which i believe will be in April.

Iam quite nervous about the process and injections drugs etc but no if im lucky wil all be worth it!...

so what re the chances of us concieving, we both 30. are the injections like proper injections?, are they quick!?! cos i have a phobia of needles and thats a problem, i dont want to do the nasal spray. ...i think we will probably start sometime in may hopfully if all goes to plan :)

how high are the chances of twins??? anybody know and on the same journey as me?!?!? thanks ladies look forward to chatting to you all xxxx

Hi, just dropping in to say good luck.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant after my first go of IVF.

It was hard but worth it!!! I was given a 27% chance of getting pregnant, so I was shocked when I got my BFP.

Injections themselves were fine after the first couple of goes, worst thing was the timing of it all, had to take injections same time each night so we were tied.

The medication affected me emotionally at the time but hey ho, only 6 weeks of your life!!! Once you get started time flies.

Wishing you every sucess!

Hi there!

Injections are fine, not bad at all. The needle is very fine, you don't really feel it going in.

As for the success rates, depends on the clinic, but I'm 32 & was given a 50% chance at my clinic & it worked first time. It does depend on your amh levels also, although that's not likely to be a problem at your age.

Twins are only likely if you have 2 embryos put back. My clinic are quite against that, due to the higher risk of birth complications & prematurity with twins, & I have to say, after watching the programme on telly this week about the babies born at 23 weeks, I would rather have a failed cycle of IVF than have a baby born too early. So I'm all for single embryo transfer now! Although I quite liked the idea of twins until watching that programme!

But this depends on how many embryos you get & the quality. I only ended up with 3 due to poor fertilisation, & had a single 3-day transfer. The other 2 were grown to 5 day embryos & have been frozen!

Lots of luck, hope it works first time for you!!!

I am starting IVF for the first time this month as well. I have done progesterone injections before but I too am super nervous about all of the injecting. I have heard that progesterone is the worst. It was pretty miserable so hopefully the other injections are survival. Good luck to you!

The injections are fine once you've done a few and got used to them - I got myself into a right state before the 1st one and wondered what I'd made a fuss for after it was done and was painless!

Progesterone injections are worse so if you are used to them you will have no probs!

Good luck!

hi ladies thanks for all your replies. . It is a confusing time lol.the proestrogen injection why are they bad do they hurt? Is that ones we do ourselves?
Does our work place have to accommodate our ivf? Like appointments etc? Im very nervous ha ha x

The progesterone shots are a little painful because they are so thick. They just make the muscle sore. They're done after the transfer and are usually in your bottom. You might luck out though and your re will prescribe vaginal suppositories instead.

I am having the same worries about work. I have the days off for now but if get switched to a 3 day transfer then I will need to be off. I work twelve hour shifts and I don't want to risk all the movement. I could possibly get someone to trade with me but i'm trying to avoid telling many coworkers right now. I had a coworker who got a note from her RE and our boss was ok with giving her the time off. Not sure what the situation is like in the UK but I imagine if you have an MD note they should have to give you the time off.

Hi Ladies!

Flake-y - I remember you from the IUI threads. I'm so glad to see that your first IVF worked! Fingers crossed for your sticky bean : )

Ttcne and Mrsmx - are either of you taking the pill before your injections? I'm taking it for 15 days before my baseline ultrasound on March 28th. My clinic said that may not be long enough to suppress my ovaries. Just wondering what your experience has been like so far. I'd love to join both of you on our first time with all this crazy stuff!

Just want to wish u good luck sweetheart.
I had my first cycle in nov 09 and got a BFP now got my 8month old girl.
I had a FET on the 5th of feb and once again got a BFP but sadly it didn't last long as I m/c 6 weeks later.
And I should be starting a fresh cycle end of march begin of April as I've got no frosties left.
I found the hardest part the 2ww after transfer the injection ect didn't bother me I had no side affects what so ever.

I hope all go's well hunny. X

hi ladies! Thank you all for replying x

it seems the people that understand me are you guys lol as your all going through or been through.
Im hoping to start my cycle im may hopefully. . So don't no if they will give me pill?
I would love to share my journey with you ladies x

can i ask what is the worst part of ivf? . I just don't no what to expect ha ha.
Im so scared it won't work and i won't be able to have a baby ever. We getting this go free then we have to pay. At a tight push i will try save the 5k but it will only be that time. I can't imagine going through life and not having a baby. Am 30 and not getting any younger. My oh will not entertain adoption. I would. But he says not am option. I wanna get excited bout ivf but scared to death of not working or worse working and miscarriage which i had one at 21 at eight weeks. Sorry to go on x x x

My DH is the same way, he isn't interested in adoption. We are paying for all of this ourselves without insurance so he is only willing to do it once - that makes me quite nervous about how I will react if it doesn't work as this seems to be my last chance at being a Mom. I don't know what the scariest part will be as I haven't done this before - but I'm guessing the 2ww is gonna SUCK : )

hey there. . Yes i no what you mean about if it doesn't work. Don't no what i would do! I have been reading on here and seems quite few ladies get lucky with ivf but you can't help feeling that it won't work for you. . Im actually thinking forward that it is possible it may work and i could be a mum very soon. When do you start? Think me may or June. X x

This is my first time as well and I am very nervous. I am not sure if I will do it all again if this doesn't work. The expense, stress, and hormonal craziness seems to take a huge toll on people. Jaimie2eyes I started my bc last week. I think that this is the normal protocol. I am already feeling a little crazy just from these. I am not sure how I am going to survive the craziness that I am expecting will come from the injectables!

Hi ladies I am starting ivf in mar or June hopefully. We r not doing ivf bc we had trouble gettin pregnant but bc we r both carriers for cystic fibrosis n our first baby had it( pregnancy ended 3 weeks ago) fan someone tell me what to expect do they all u last minute for the hubby to give sperm n for then to extract the eggs??? Thank u

Addie - the ER and SA are scheduled far in advance, so you'll know when that happens.

Ttcne - how long are you on the pill for before you start stims? Thanks for the reassurance!

Hi everyone!

We are going to be starting the IVF process in May/June as well!
Though I am not new to the site (I've been lurking around for years!), I am new to this particular forum. My hubby and I tried unsuccessfully for 2 years before we discovered through fertility clinic testing that my tubes were damaged and had to be removed in Dec. So...here I am! :)

Fingers crossed for us all! Can't wait for everything to get started ~~ we've waited long enough :)

Jaime2 eyes- I will be on the pill for 3.5 weeks or so.
