new mummys!! what were your 1st signs of labour??? Did you guess your baby's sex ??

This is my first so I'm interested to hear some replies to your question!!!

I couldn't wait to find out my babys sex so I had a scan to find out, I'm having a boy but before I knew that I was 100% convinced I was having a girl. I had even picked a name and bought a dress for LO to wear to my sisters wedding which is 6 weeks after my EDD. I have since returned the dress and bought my wee man a baby kilt to wear instead!

Well I didnt get the gender right I thought we were going to have a girl but ended up have a healthy baby boy

My first sign if labor was that my Braxton Hicks kept going and going. Also I had the bad case of "nesting"

With my first my first sign of labour was a show when I went to the loo a few days before. I then started getting period like cramps on and off one evening then they stopped. Two days later I went into labour.

I had a feeling he was going to be a boy though everyone kept telling me I was having a girl because of how I was carrying. This time around I have no feeling about whether it's a boy or a girl.

I stayed on team yellow & thought i was having a boy right up till the last few weeks when i thought i was having a girl & picked out a girls name.

First signs of labour were period type pains, i didnt know at this point that they were prelabour pains. I managed to get some sleep (they started about 10-11pm) & woke up at 4am with more regular pains but still didnt think it was labour at that point. Then i started having to go to the toilet alot, its then i realised that i was in labour & that was the clear out. I tried having a bath but i was constantly getting out to get on the loo & at that point i started timing contractions. by 9am i asked my OH to phone the MW who came out exammined me & i was 4cm dilated I went to hospital about 1 & 1/2 hours later (where i still couldnt keep off the loo) & i had my LO at 5.55pm

I stayed team yellow all the way through. I thought I was having a boy and my DH was convinced we were having a girl and he turned out to be right.

One week before I had my DD I lost my plug and had regular tightenings which lasted 12 hours and were coming every 5 minutes but then suddenly disappeared. One week later I woke up at 8am with quite strong period type pains which kept coming every 8 minutes or so, I went shopping thinking it was the same as the week before. My SIL came to see me that afternoon took one look at me and asked if I was okay, I told her I was having mild contractions and they started timing them properly and they were coming every 4 minutes. I was much calmer than I thought I would be, my brother on the other hand who has 3 children was a nervous wreck and kept telling me I needed to get to the hospital. I went to the hospital at 8pm and had my DD at 4.19am.

first signs of labour was when i woke up at midnight with a soaking wet bed and leaked all the way to the bathroom . i was convinced the whole time i was having a boy..and i was right

Just before my contractions started I had an awful lower backache which I was convinced was trapped wind and for hours I was trying to trump thinking thats all it was!! Once they started getting stronger and coming in regular waves I knew what was happening. I didn't have any pains in the stomach area and my waters didn't break until 30 minutes before my lo was born.

I had a sweep at 39+6 and within a half hour lost my plug and had cramps that lasted the whole day. Then nothing till 40+3, my water broke and contractions started 5mins later coming strong and 4mins apart.

I had a scan at 22 week and found out it was a boy, which is what we were hopping for.

With my last I was positive he was a boy from the beginning and the scan confirmed a boy! I had some pre labor pains for 2-3 weeks before I got induced a week early due to Pre eclampsia..

With this pregnancy I again was convinced it was a girl and Yep scan has confirmed we are expecting a little princess this time around

I had diahorrea type cramps which immediately followed through lol (tmi) and contractions started coming every 10 mins right after! No other signs or symptoms at all..apart from havin a full nights sleep which hadn't happend in around 10 days before xx

the day I found out I was pregnant I had a feeling I was having a girl, DH thought a boy, I was right. Labor started with irregular contractions from 11pm to 3 am the next day, then they started to form a pattern. I started to bleed and had a run to the bathroom every time I ate something, so I just stopped eating. an hour later my water broke

I knew from the start I was having a boy and I was right! xx

Day before had immense pressure after a half hour walk. My contractions started half midnight on my due date...couple at 8 mins apart, couple at 6 mins apart then the rest at between 2-4 mins! Thinkin it was false labour we didnt go into hospital till 5 hours later (2cm dilated) and didn't get any pain relief for 10 hours since the beginning!
MIdwife gave me a sweep at the 2cm's as i hadn't knowingly lost me plug or hadda show! Waters were broken at around 8pm and had my little Adam at 11:53pm!!

All i can say is thank god for epidurals! couldn't believe the other pain relief methods were shiiite! and how hilarious entinox is, did bugger all for the pain but after effects were brilliant lol

Didn't know these were signs at the time so was totally shocked when my waters broke seemingly out of nowhere but reading my diary I had some backache, nothing exceptional, just niggling and out of nowhere (like I hadn't done anything strenuous to warrant backache) & the baby also had a very good kick about and squirm around the day before, almost like gearing up to go.

I just *knew* she was a girl, pretty much right from the start, and I was right!

The evening b4 my waters breaking i suddenly got the urge to go to toys r us to buy a stairgate to stop the dog going upstairs, i'd been meaning to do this for weeks cause the dog used to sleep in our room and i wanted her to get used to not going upstairs for when the baby arrived, anyway this particular evening i just had to do it so i rung my sister about 7pm and off we went, we were out of the house about 3 hours cause we had a walk round ikea too, the whole time we were gone i felt uncomfortable and had back ache but at the time didn't think anything of it. When i got home, i sat watching tv till 2am cause i was quite restless and knew there was no point going to bed as i knew i wouldn't sleep, at 2am i stood up to turn the tv off and my waters went, looks like i was having signs of impending labour all night i just didn't realise x
