I applied for the csa to get money from my fob. The last time a csa assessment was done it was a nil assessment because he was a full time student. He has now graduated with a degree in Law (june 2012).

Anyway they sent him a letter a couple of weeks ago and in the letter they asked him to contact the csa with information about how he was supporting himself and what his circumstances are. He never responded. And so a benefit check has been done and also they have contacted Inland Revenue, but it came up that he isn't on benefits nor is there any information on him through Inland Revenue.

I thought that was going to be it and I was really disappointed, but when I called today she said she was going to phone his parent's shop where he may be working now!! And also they are going to send out a letter saying that if he doesn't provide information it will got to a default maintenance decision which I am happy about.... because i really thought it was going to be a nil assessment again!! And so he will hopefully be forced into contacting the CSA if he wants to stop the default maintenance decision.

I just really want him to face up to his responsibilities. it would just mean so much if he was made to take some responsibility instead of treating me or pretending he doesn't have a child. MAYBE THIS WILL REMIND HIM!!

Good luck hun, he should have to pay somehow, and the csa caught up with my ex, the father of my 3 kids and just took the money directly out of his wages, not putting him down as he's a great dad, but this is what they should be doing to these men that dont acknowledge thier children, and i hope they do it to the farther of my unborn child once he/ she arrives.

That's brilliant Honey :) If not - Keep trying! He'll have to work sooner or later. x

fingers crossed they find something, I just do not understand why he finds it so hard to support his child ugh

Goodluck, men need to pay. I'm sick of these men walking away scot free.

My fob is paying into my account, but I'm going to go threw CSA as I don't trust this boy on second so at least the CSA will make him pay

I don't know if this helps, but if he's only just graduated his law degree, it's likely he's going to go on to do his post graduate courses to become either a solicitor or barrister (LPC or Bar exams) - which is another years full time study.

So just be aware that he may not be working for another year yet. :flower: Sorry, I know that's rubbish, but it's better to be prepared for what may happen.

After that though, he should begin to earn proper money and be able to properly support your child. Which will definitely go through the inland revenue.

So don't give up, even if this attempt results in no CSA maintenance, just bide your time and he will be forced to contribute to his child.

Thanks for that. Yes I realise he may go down that route because when I last spoke to him he did say his intentions were to become a lawyer, but his grades weren't fantastic so I am not sure he would get in to the next stage or not; He got a 2:2 for his degree. So I suppose it'll either be this year or next year that he properly starts paying. I can't wait for that to happen!!

My DD was 6 b4 i got any money from FoD

i had numerous letters saying i was recieveing £5 a week becoz he wasn't working but i wasn't getting anything

dec 2010 i went to the bank to take money out and there was a MASSIVE surprise CSA money and alot so to say.. we bought extra prezzies for DD

I'd definitely keep reapplying, if he so much a gets a part - time job he has to pay! x

Glad you seem to be having better luck! My fob quit his job as soon as he found out csa were contacting him and now he's supposedly not working, not on benefits yet living away from his parents and drinking every weekend but having to pay nil.

I friggin' hate men :haha:

He will have to work at some point and he will wish he had just supported you when he should have done, fingers crossed you get some sort of support soon!!!x
