Unfortunatley i have just had to give up work at short notice and move to a refuge and am now having to apply for benefits. But i haven't got a clue what i'm entitled to and how much.

I'm 24 years old. Currently 21 weeks pregnant with my first child and therefore i have applied for JSA. Also Housing and council tax benefit for the accomodation i am staying in which my support worker sorted out for me.

What happens next. Do i claim income support from 29 weeks and if so how much will that be. Or what is this thing Maternity allowance.

what do i do wen baby is born do i then have to ring around straight away and fill in lots more forms. What will i be entitled to then??

I no i can now apply for surestart but apart from nowing that i really am totally totally clueless!!!!

sorry if this is loads of questions in one but information is needed asap

thanks guys

xx

Income support should be around £50 a week until baby is born, mine went up to £64.30 a week

speak to the citizen's advice bureau about what you are entitled to. Or look at https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/index.htm .

If you have worked weeks in the last 66 weeks and paid national insurance, you might get matenity allowance for 39 weeks, which is about £123 per week. You may get the sure start grat and def the HIP grant (£190)
good luck, hun
