Hey everyone,

I am getting to start my first round of Clomid and looking for others who have taken it.

Background:
Pituitary Tumor, no menstrual cycles for 2 years, no ovulation. I had my first AF induced last month with Provera and we did that again this month. AF arrived yesterday and I am to start Clomid 50mg tomorrow. My doc says that after I stop the Clomid in 5 days that on CD 11-15, my husband and I should BD like crazy ;). Then after that on CD 21 I will be going in for blood work to see if I even ovulated.

Questions:
I am wondering what things I should expect in the sense of side effects. Is there a preferable time to take it? Did you guys also use OPKs with your first round?

any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

I did OPK with my first round, but the clomid caused a cyst to grow out of control and ended up over 33+ cm and the size of a basketball. They removed it as well as my left ovary and tube.

I dont remember side effects, just the pain from the over stimulation and hot pressure of the cyst.

Not helpful, I know. :(

Oh no! That sounds awful! I already finished my first round of Clomid and the only thing I noticed was being emotional. It did however cause a cyst to grow and it's still causing me pain so we are making sure it is not getting bigger. It didn't even cause ovulation this time round... :( but that's ok we will get it figured out!!

Thanks for replying!

Yes you will get it sorted out. Think about adding Vitex to your suppliments if your taking any....it regulates hormones and might get you to O naturally. Its an herb so it couldnt hurt.

I know how it feels to ask and get no response.

Did they put you on BC to help shrink the cyst??

I wish I could take those types of supplements but I can't. I have a pituitary tumor and PCOS both which require specific medications that can get altered by herbs. I also won't take BC pills because the last time I was on them I ended up at MAYO Clinic due to crazy things happening. I wish I could, it would make things simpler!
Yea it gets old never getting a reply to posts. Oh well, so how long have you been TTC?

I took clomid for 3 rounds and did not work. It make me super crazy and emotional. I also had major hot flashes. My RE has me on Letrozole/Fermera. Its actually a medication for women with breast cancer. It stops your body from taking on any estrogen. Which in turn makes your body produce more fsg. Making you ovulate. I have had no side effects. Its a breeze compared to clomid. You might want to ask about this drug instead.

Thanks- I have my first appt with the RE in Feb. I'll see what he says.

Ten years....YOu?

Oh my goodness, that really sucks! I am sorry to hear that. Do they have an explanation as to why?
Well, it's a complicated question... I have been wanting to try for about 3 years or so but I wasn't having periods so we could not actively try. I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor in 2006 and was getting treated for that. I thought I could wait for the medications to treat my tumor and they would restore regularity to my periods but that didn't happen. I also had lots of medical conditions, so we decided to wait. I finally got all my issues situated this year so my husband and I decided we could start to try. We made the appt with gyn in October to discuss everything and he started me on the Clomid and Provera. So now we are waiting till the RE can tell us what is next. Sorry for the long drawn out answer... :(

no biggy, there is a lot going on when your TTCLT. Yea, we have not had protected sex in 10 years, and I have fallen pregnant, but lost a few.

I believe the hormone imbalance is to blame. When your heavier your fat holds hormones and then creates a toxic environment because it can start releasing those hormones. Sucks I know.

My path is to loose weight.....get my periods back to being regular and then hubby agreed to activly try for a baby as soon as I get a positive OPK. :)
