My daughter is 2 weeks old today. She was in the NICU for 10 days after birth due to her being a bit premature and her lungs weren't quite ready yet. Well I noticed in the hospital she was sneezing quite a bit, and now that we are home (been home since Friday, so 4 days) it's getting worse. Is sneezing a lot normal for newborns? I thought with my first we were worried too because she sneezed a lot - but I'm so paranoid now, I don't want her back in the NICU :nope:

How many times does she sneeze per day?

My baby has about 4 or 5 sneezing episodes per day.

It's quite a few.... last night it seemed like whenever I layed her down she would sneeze 2 or 3 times. Today she has only had one sneezing episode so far - sneezed 2 times

I asked about my LO sneezing in the hospital and they said it was just her clearing out her lungs and it was completely normal. But now, at 9 weeks, my LO sneezes everyday usually twice in a row probably 3-4 times a day...I want to ask the ped if its normal.

It's normal. I asked about it when my lo was newborn. It's them clearing out the gunk and stuff!!

Phew, reassuring thank you! I just hope she's not catching a cold - but like I keep telling DH (cuz he is a paranoid freak lol), she's not coughing, no runny nose, etc....

The midwife told me that newborn babies sneeze quite a lot because they don't have any nose hair so when they breathe in dust etc there is nothing to trap it so they sneeze!

My LO also spent 5 days in NICU due to haveing pnumonia in both lungs when born - he sneezes quite a bit, usually 4 times in a row. Doctors have all said it's normal, and he's seen TONS of doctors!

I wouldnt' worry about it.
