Hi guys, watching the news this morning and choked on my cup of tea..
Research in America has discovered a link between group o type and reduced ovarian reserve....
I am group o..... my amh level as of july this year was 5.2.
I paid for a consultation with a fertility specialist in August and he reassured me that yes it was low but normal for women my age( 39yrs old)
here is the link below:

Myself and my dp have been trying now for 17 months and have had 2 very early m'c at 5 weeks, so this article struck a cord with me... I am having some routine bloods taken this week and next to rule out the obvious causes for miscarriages.

if you know your blood group and even your amh level, could you add it to the thread?

HI Im O and AMH 4.98 40.5 years old
Interesting although weve had 2 miscarriages too so were not infertile!
Im looking at IVF now

Hi I saw this on sky news this morning but only briefly as I was dashing out to work, didn't realise it was my blood group.

I am O positive 37 years old and my AMH is 9.98 which aparently is low for my age. TTC for 17 months with no hint of a BFP and starting IVF in 1 weeks time.

Hi 40 yr old mum, met you on a few other threads.
I am booked in early next yr for iui on nhs( I only just managed to scrape myself in as their criteria has recently changed at the clinic..)This is due to start in January, though I'm in a dilema whether to try ivf either before or during the iui...the cost would impact on us for a long time coming and really could only afford one try.....

It will be interesting to share everyones experiences, with blood group and amh levels......

Hi Mandy,

I think it would be really good to see what others experiences are, it will show if we have any strong correlations to the research done so far.

Good luck with the IUI, although I now live abroad I do known how frustrating the wait can be with the NHS or even their selection criteria. If we were stilling living in the UK we would not have been able to afford IVF privately and I would have had to try and push my way through the system.

We would have tried IUI first but because we wanted to be treated by a doc in the UK (due to some bad experiences where I live) we decided to jump to IVF as it takes out a few of the TTC hurdles and treatment for us involves the added cost of flights and lots of time off work. Hoping it works first time as the costs are scary.

Carole,
Good luck for next month, I'll be thinking about you next month hope it al goes well and you get some exciting news in time for xmas.going to add you as a friend xxx

I don't know my AMH, but I am type O. I know my FSH is high. :(

I've just seen this in the :paper:

Fab! I'm O!! And 36!!

I am group O, so is my OH, I got pregnant first cycle trying age 35 (very lucky I know)

Unless it's a large world wide study (the above wasn't) I'd atke it with a pinch of salt

Also the daily mail is ALWAYS full of scaremongering stories

lots of :dust: to everyone

xxx

I am 37, O+, plus been trying for 3 years on and off and had two early miscarriages this year. Am interested in AMH, where can I get it done? Does it cost loads?

I totally agree with taking it with a pinch of salt.
Rhesus positive is the largest most common blood group in mankind, so it kinda figures that this would correlate to the largest infertility group. IYKWIM?

Infertility is suffered by ALL blood groups. They are just fewer in number purely because less people fall into the other blood types such as Rhesus negative, A, AB etc.

Having said that, it would be interesting to see if there are any ladies here with a rarer blood type and low AMH levels?

hello, i'd agree that the daily mail is famous for scaremongering - that's what sells papers after all. let's hope that more research will be conducted in this area before it's taken seriously, it's quite a small research group.

i know plenty of people who are O in my family who've conceived in the blink of an eye, but i'm A and still waiting after around six months!

44% of people are type O - that would mean nearly half of people would have trouble conceiving! Big pinches of salt here too (I'm an O too!)

Hi Surrey Gal
My AMH cost £85 there are only two clinics in the UK which do it apparently one in London, one in Glasgow I think I had it through my fertility specialist but his consult was £170!!!! Do a google search then call them I am sure you could get blood drawn at your GP's then send it yourself with a cheque.
Also everyone, of course it will show O pos women to be more infertile and lower fertility because their are so many more of us, stats are stats. Look were all in the same boat and yes we have less eggs and the majority are shite but we could get the golden egg out next time and if we try IVF we maybe get a few out at once and a better chance of it coming quicker!!
I'm chilled at the moment Ive had 10 months of being manic and it hasnt got me anywhere!!

Well said!!
I thought blood group O was like THE most common group so by a statistical average you would have the numbers to support the hypothesis!!
Chill ladies!!
Let's have several robust studies first!!
