I'm new here and hoping to find some peace of mind and help through this whole process. My husband and I have been TTC for about 20 months. All of my bloodwork has been normal. I've had an internal ultrasound to check my uterus for any cysts and that was normal. Also, all my cycles are regular- around 28 days with me getting positive OV tests around day 14 and 15. We have sex very regularly and have recently started using Preseed. My husband's sperm has been tested and came back with great results in all categories. I am 28 and he is 34- both healthy. I'm trying to stay positive but am becoming increasingly frustrated and disappointed as each month goes by. I'm scheduled to have an HSG next week- which I'm very nervous about after reading horror stories online- but maybe that will shed some light to what may be wrong.

Any insight or personal experiences welcome as I know staying positive and relaxed can only help while we go through this journey. Thank you in advance!

Hi MG.

Everything you wrote sounds exactly like what I wrote a few short months ago!
Luckily you are not alone in this. Lots, and I mean TONS of us here have fairly normal cycles (I'm 27 days to the hour most months! ) and still cant concieve.
It's so frustrating that there are no answers for us "unexplained fertility" girls. But I'm so thankful that the support here is so kind and insightful.

After my HSG my OB said to give it 3 months. I've read something like 60% of women have their BFP within 3 months of it.
Well the jig was up after month 2 for me and I was given clomid 50mg. As you can tell from my siggy it didn't work for me..but that doesn't mean it won't work at all.... i hope..otherwise it'll be me, hubby and the dog forever haha

Sorry, this turned out longer than I thought. Make sure you have a great OB that goes through options with you. Maybe try the herbal supplements before going to rx drugs??

There's tons of support here for you! Fx'd!

Thanks so much for sharing your story and insight. I agree- it's tough and frustrating to not now where the road will lead. I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope that it all works out for us both sooner rather than later!

If you don't mind me asking, how was the HSG for you? I'm pretty anxious about it.

I don't mind at all. :)
It really wasn't that bad...a lot of girls say it really hurt..A lot say it didnt. I think it depends if the tubes are blocked or not and your pain tolerance.
I had some pain upon insertion of the catheter even after I took Ibuprofen an hour before hand. My OB didn't say I had any issues but .. (Sorry, TMI warning)...she did have to "plug" my cervix with her finger bc the dye was leaking out instead of going up. I got to watch the whole thing on the monitor and noticed the left tube took a bit longer than the right to fill up. Again, she didn't say anything about it. In fact she did say that they looked really good and to DTD that night lol

Long story short, I did have some spotting for 2 days but I believe it's because any "gunk" that was there was flushing out.

Hth!

Ok- thanks for sharing! That eases my concerns- hopefully mine will go smoothly too. I had a procedure where they put dye inside my uterus and had to use a catheter so I have to imagine there are some similarities. I mainly just want to get it out of the way so we can move on to the next step.

Thanks again!

That sounds like the same thing!
If I were you I'd ask the OB for the next step now so you don't feel like you wasted time down the road.
I was told to wait the 3 months but I'm so glad she let me go at just 2.
It feels like forrreeeeeevveerr when you want something bad enough lol

I also want to let you know there's a thread in the 2ww for August with lots of really fun and informative posts if you'd like to join. Here's the link

Yes, I was working with a fertility specialist and she said she would have to consult with my OB about the next step. I assume Clomid and then IUI if needed? I hate taking medicine but willing to do what it takes!

I hate it as well... and I doubt we'll ever move to unnatural conception. I hate the impending migraines with the hot flashes and I bet the increased dose of Clomid will just magnify it all. .. ugh
