So this is probably way too much information - so apologies in advance! But I am 11 weeks pregnant and noticed thick white discharge from my nipples today. It looked like what I imagine 'colostrum' to be like, but I thought that was after the baby was born. Has anybody had anything similar or can anybody shed any light on this?

Many peoples nipples will start to leak during pregnancy. So quite normal

Yeah, I knew that it was quite common later on in pregnancy but I had heard it was second trimester onwards! Although, I guess I am pretty close now so maybe it's not so weird. I have a midwife appointment next week so I will mention it then too. Thanks :)

It's quite normal. Your milk ducts start producing as soon as your hormones change, and it's quite common to get small amounts of colostrum, especially when squeezing your nipples. You'll probably find it will settle down and get a bit less soon and come in properly during your last weeks or pregnancy or right after birth =)

I had the same thing happen both last week and this...I actually could feel it come out (once when a baby was crying and once when my baby goats were screaming in excitement about getting fed...how's that for freaky). I assume as long as it's not massive quantities, it's fine. Still, like you, I was not expecting this for a while.

My immediate response to the title of this thread was 'WHAT? Wheres mine??' I then proceeded to get out my boobs and squeeze them lol nothing yet though. It is perfectly normal, just keep an eye on it because later on it can get quite frequent and then you will want to give serious consideration to breast pads!

With DS my boobs started leaking at about 16 weeks - which I thought was early. I did notice though before they properly started leaking that I often had dry flakey stuff on my nipples - I thought my nipples had dry skin! Now I realise that I was probably just leaking a very tiny amount and it was drying.

I actually didn't leak during my last pregnancy that I noticed until Lewis was born. But everyone is different so leaking early on or not at all is still normal.

Haha, that is brilliant! Yeah, mine seems to have only started doing it this weekend, and we've had our lovely little niece and nephew staying which has made me so so broody!

Thank you for all of your answers ladies, they've really helped! :)
