Hi
Just wondered if anybody else had this experience or has any advice to give?

We started BD in Jan 11 and we were extemely lucky and got a BFP in February, we were both over the moon! This was our first try. Unfortunately this was not to last and I started bleeding the first week in April which sadly led to an eventual D & C. (I was 10 weeks pregnant but the baby died at 6 weeks).

We wanted to TTC again straight away and did (I am 39 and time is not on my side). Using OPKs I found that they were detecting the hormones that we still in my body and were not reliable. (I have never temped as I do not know much about it). Also I did not know what my cycle would be like after the miscarriage so this made things difficult to plan, so I accepted that I would have to wait for AF to know where I would stand.

AF arrived and this month I have I used OPKs from day 10 but they were all negative (there was a reasonable line but never darker than the control line and I did this twice a day in case I missed the surge). We BD'ed from day 10 to 15 and I continued to check OPK after this time just in case O day was delayed but nothing.

Also have had virtually no CM this month whatsoever to date. I am currently in the 2ww but not hopeful whatsoever and feel really down.

I assume that I did not o this time but am I am also confused about the zero cm?

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Are you taking prenatals, extra folic acid, and drinking plenty of water? Sometimes you may not have as much CM if you are dehydrated.
I had a successful pregnancy almost 10 years ago, and have had 3 losses since then...I can definitely tell you that one's body does not bounce back as quickly from this as we age....I know you are disappointed and were so hoping for several signs of fertility this month, but try your best to take a deep breath and not panic. I would give it one more cycle to let your body heal and hopefully you will start seeing some positive signs.
Also, doctors can do amazing things these days, so if time is of the essence, there are many fertility specialists who work with patients of Advanced Maternal Age (gah! don't you hate that term?? We're not old!) and can help give your system a kick start.
Good luck!!

PS...How insensitive of me not to mention your loss. :( I am so sorry. :( To have waited this long to TTC and have your first pregnancy experience end in a MMC must have been devastating. I do hope that you get a BFP and a sticky baby very soon.

LK. Thank you so much for your reply, much appreciated. I am sorry to hear about your losses also and babydust to you.

I have been taking 400g of folic acid daily, no supplements though and you could be right about being dehydrated, I do not drink enough water. I may also try evening primrose which I have read a lot about on this site which can help with CM.

I have read that it is possible to get pregnant without much CM but appreciate that it is necessary to help the little fellas get to the eggy. I guess that I did not ovulate this month, my AF is due next THursday, so I am going to go all out next month!

I wondered if it is worth investing in a CBFM rather than using OPKs? Don't you still have to shell out for the expensive CB sticks as well every month?

I dont understand why the OPKs seemed to fail this month (99% sure that I am not preggo).

Its tough, every month feels like a year when you get a negative test does'nt it!?

Thanks

I was also wondering about any damage after having a D&C that it can do to your body?

I'm not sure about the D&C damage, although from what I have heard, it *can* sometimes take longer to regain your uterine lining after having one done. Our loss at 8weeks fortunately did not require any medical intervention, but our loss at 36 weeks and subsequent harsh induction caused a weakening in my cervix that I believe caused us to lose our other child at 23w3days.
And yeah, I know what you mean....everyone in my small town is long finished with having babies at my age and people keep telling me to stop trying and focus on the one child I do have...people my age around here are helping their kids with algebra and teaching them how to drive...not trying to conceive them! At our age one cycle means a lot more than it did in our early 20s.
(I think I've POAS 7 times so far and AF isn't even due til the 28th, haha! I just bought 5 more from the dollar store! All BFNs though. )

Hang in there...the fact that you guys got pregnant on your first try is a good sign that you will be able to get pregnant again. You just may need a month or two of rest. :hugs:

Thanks your comments made me lol! I will have to hold my hands up as well to poas for a HPT 3 times and even did an opk yesterday as I had nothing left to pee on! POAS-itus!!

It sounds likle you have been through a lot. I don't think people who just have child after child with no problems can relate sometimes.

I hope you get BFP on the 28th:happydance: and thank you for listening to my rant, I have cheered up a little (despite washing/drying my mobile/cell phone this afternoon as well!).

Babydust to you x

:hugs: It's nice to have a buddy. Thank you.

And yeah....I may have to just go out and buy a bag of these to feed my POAS-itis, as right now it seems to be about the same:

Hahahaha! :happydance: I'll just get a pen and write "BFP" on the ends of each of them to make me feel better!

LOL!!!! Thats cheating!

TMI ALERT - Well yesterday, I had blood streaked cm and I spent all of last night googling as you do! Some giving you hope, some immediately dashing your hopes, so it was 50/50.

Sadly AF has arrived today with avengence! So I am out. Funnily enough I am not as sad as I thought I would be, so going all out next month. I am now armed with bottles of water/folic acid/multi vits/evening primrose/baby asprin.

So I have my fingers and toes crossed for you now.

Please let me know how you get on? X

Wel...apparently writing BFP on popsicle sticks actually works!!! Hahahaha!! Praise the good Lord, I got my BFP today using a FRER test.
I am very humbled and grateful and trying to maintain a balance between excitement and a wary understanding that a BFP doesn't necessarily mean I'll get a baby!
Praying for you and wishing and hoping that next month is YOUR month...so sorry it wasn't this time around. Thank you so much for being my buddy for a minute. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

*smothers you in baby dust!!!!* :D

Thats fantastic! Huge congratulations, see that babydust worked! :cloud9: Fingers crossed for a safe and happy 9 months for you.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. It least I can have a glass of wine this month if I feel like it, so its not all bad!

Well I had a chemical last month and I've been testing with no positive so i am beginning to wonder myself i wish u both the best of luck:)

Hi BG
I know it really difficult, but try not to lose heart. You will always have friend online here in the same position as you.

I am approaching O day yet again, so back on that merry-go-round! I have no children, I had a m/c in April (and I feel like an old woman) feeling sooo puzzled and disappointed when AF has arrived every month too.

I am trying desperately to take the pressure off myself and relax and hope it then happens.

Wishing you all the babydust possible

Sorry for your loss :hugs: and sorry the witch arrived too.

Saying that, it means you must have ovulated but you missed the surge? Count back 14 days from today as that was when you were most likely to have ovulated and in your next cycle (say it was CD15), start doing OPK's from 2 days before (say CD13). I always test first thing and at 5pm if I am at work. Otherwise, I test every four hours when I get a darker line.

Hope this makes sense rather than waffle?!?!

Gah....didn't realise the date sorry :dohh:

Im 35 and trying for my first...have you been over to the 35+ forum?

Dear NSN
Thank you soo much for your post and advice it all made perfect sense. I guess you may be right but the whole month was kind of dry! OPKs got warm but never hot if you know what I mean. We planned a break away for BD'ing and that crucial time was definately covered regulary! I was quite stressed due to work. I believe that I did not ovulate this month which sadly does happen I believe and worsens as you get older, which could expalin lack of CM. Very Depressing!

I did'nt know which forum would suit me better as I am TTC after loss and over 35

On your advice I think I may have to do OPKS than I usually would at that time. I have learnt far more on these forums than I ever did on the net.

Thank you again and wishing you a fruitful outcome
xxxxxx

Ah hun, this month I had a really long surge and I think it was due to stress, egg was hanging tough :haha: as for EWCM, I've not had any since the loss but I have watery fluid around ovulation.

I understand about not sure where to be on the forum...wish there was a TTC#1AL over 35 part :dohh:

Good luck and enjoy DTD. I have also gained more info from this forum, not sure that's a good thing though sometimes

I don't kno what to think.. I think I want it so bad I'm thinkin myself pregnant.. Is that possible? I am having lots of tingled across my pubic bone and sore boobs..:s

It's hard hun, last month I DTD in all the right places, had brown spotting at 6 DPO but it was BFN and totally floored me. Deffo trying the whatever route this month. My fingers are totally crossed for you though :hugs:
