no fetal pole at 6wk 4d scan

Hi ladies - after a bit of reassurance if possible!

Had some spotting last week and was booked in for early scan which I had today. Had vaginal ultrasound and they saw a gestational sac at 6w4d, exactly right by my dates, but no fetal pole or heartbeat.

I freaked out but the Dr said that it was inconclusive, rather than bad news, and that I had to go back next Monday for another scan. I really thought you would always see a yolk sac and pole at this stage?

She says all women are different and that she can't say one way or the other yet.

My mood is wildly fluctuating now! One the one hand, I'm pleased the gestational sac measures exactly right, as guess if baby had died the sac would have stopped growing? On the other, I don't understand why the sac would not have a bean visible?

Please help - success stories and encouragement only if possible, as have a whole week to go and am under instructions to remain positive.

6 weeks is still very very early hun... i had my first scan at 9weeks and they had to press pretty hard to see baby x

with luisa my scan only showed a sac and then nothing for a week turns out i was a little behind my dates x

with one of my previous losses i had a blighted ovum - sac continues to grow even wen baby has passed

I had some cramping and spotting when I was 6 weeks 4 days. I went in for an emergency scan. They only saw the gestational sac and said it looked like the pregnancy was in it's early stages. I was sent home with another scan booked in 2 weeks time.

Well Tuesday I was suffering with extreme cramps and so I was sent in again. I was scanned again and we saw a heartbeat It measured 6 weeks 4 days. Exactly one week behind my dates. I've still got the other scan appointment next week when they'll be lookin for some growth.

I felt the same when there was no contents but our story ended happy. I hope your's does too honey!

I had a scan at about 7 weeks and i think the fetal pole was only just visable and i think heartbeat comes just after but 6 weeks is early!

I had two sacs at 6 weeks but only one baby. Had a scan at 8 weeks and there was two babies. It can happen. Stay positive..

Morning!

Delighted to report that scan today showed baby and heartbeat

last week there was just a gestational sac measuring 6w4d - today a whole baby - what a growth for 7 days! They think bean only measures about 6wk, so I could have got my dates wrong but I suspect that so much effort went into growing this week that it's a bit out.

no more scans till 12 weeks - no reason to think anything is wrong at all!!

Same happened to me. No fetal pole but only a sac. Turned out they thought I was a month ahead of what I actually was. I was 4 wks and they said I had to be 8 wks due to my last period. Tsk tsk, they scared me for nothing.

I have fingers, eyes, and toes crossed for you!!!
