I forgot to ask another doctor in my obgyn office if this was the case, but one of my doctors told me that they typically only do an ultrasound towards the end if she isn't measuring correctly. This can't be Okay can it? Say the chord is around her neck or she's too big, how in the world will they know? Do you girls think I can request to have one done just to be on the safe side or am I just overreacting?

My last doc one was at 20 weeks :( I don't get a final one either which I am so pissed about. I got a 4d one done at 33 weeks for me, and to check if she was growing right and everything was perfect. I think they should really give us another one!!

I had a 4d done last week but it wasn't medical at all, the woman who does them just showed did the ultrasound and told us she was head down. Everything else was strictly for looks. Plus my aunt told me a scary story about when she lost her baby. So as usual i'm freaking out.

My last one was at 18w 5d :(

I dont get another one unless I go 10 days over and then they scan me before they induce me

xx

I had my last at 20 weeks.

They tend to only give you one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks.

You won't get another unless they are concerned about growth.

im not sure where ur located but im in houston tx..nd you get a scan every 4weeks... but if they dnt let you have another go sumwhere dat will just do an ultrasound if ur worried

Yep we only get a 12 week and 20 week scan. Chord around the neck is common and very rarely causes problems, if it is they can usually tell before the baby starts to arrive and intervene. Don't panic lovely, it's standard :) xxx

theres no need for an ultrasound after 20 weeks hun at that stage baby is basicly just growing... so other then if your measuring small or movements have slowed down they have no reason too. The chord dosnt cause a problem around the babys neck whilst in the womb as they dont breath yet :) and if he/she is born with it round their neck a doctor will quickly remove it as he/shes head appears! Dont worry baby will be absaloutly fine just think back in the old days when you didnt have any ultrasounds or what nots and just got on with it and our grandparents came out fine :)

I had one at 14 weeks and 19 weeks.
I have to have another one when im 29 weeks due to high and low blood sugars to make sure she is growing right.
Which i find pretty dumb.
dont ya think we should have another one at like 30 weeks or so just to make sure and to get to see the diff between when we first found out?

I would have only had the one scan at 20 weeks, except that Finn was being difficult so we needed another one at 23 weeks so they could get better measurements. I am interested in doing a 3D one though, so I may have one more if I can come up with the finances for it.

Trust the doctors! If they feel something is going wrong they can do a bedside ultrasound during labor. The cord being wrapped around the baby's neck isn't so scary anymore. They can quickly remove it now and have ways to help baby if there is a complication with it.

In the UK we get two, at 12 and 20 weeks - tbh you don't really need anymore.

It's normal (at least in the UK anyway) for there only to be two scans, 12 weeks and 20 weeks. They do say too many scans can be harmful anyway. I wouldn't worry too much, they will probably mesaure baby's heart rate when you go into hospital anyway and if LO is in distress then they will know about it.

xoxox

that's completely normal to only get 2 scans. ive had 4 hospital ones, but that's cos 2 of them were emergency ones, one cos i thought my waters had went at 23 weeks, and one cos i thought i was in labour cos my braxton hicks were that bad at 31 weeks. think they just done them to reassure me. xx

12 weeeks and 20 weeks is normall,

i have to have a scan every 2 weeks for growth scans which i dont c a need for as all my kids have been fine but i have had growth scans with them all,

i only had 2 with my daughter one at 15 weeks one at 37 weeks the only reason i had a 37 week one is because they didnt know if her head was down
