Does anyone else not have a bedroom for baby? I have been super duper stressed about all of this.

We own a house that will never sell in this economy:( Not sure what to do about our situation but we do not have a bedroom for baby. How will I fit it's things into my closet and dressers? We are jam packed!

Anyone else hafta share room with baby, and if so, do you have any pics of how you've made this work? Have any tips if you've dealt with this already?

I want a nursery to decorate:cry:

Ahhh hun, i think it's a case of make do until you can change things. I have friends with a little boy in a 1 bed and they manage, they put a unit in the living room with the telly is on and all the drawers have clothes in. Under bed storage and boxes on top of the wardrobes are what we use, we have 2 beds but no storage space.

Is there anyway you can rent your property out and then rent a 2 bed?

xx

Me and my partner are living with my mum and dad at the moment but, when we do get our own place, we're only looking to get a one-bedroom place for the first year as money's a bit tight and it'll be cheaper.

I know how you feel- I would love a nursery to decorate! Still, you can choose a nice cot and bedding and mobile etc. which is fun :)

Storage is an issue- not sure how we're going to cope lol. I guess the only tips are having a clearout of your own stuff and buying bigger or more storage-efficient furniture (if you can afford to). Is there any space under your bed? Under-the-bed pull-our drawers add loads of extra space to your room :)

Don't worry too much, at least having no nursery is one less thing to do. And when the baby's little it doesn't need it's own room any way :) xx

Under my bed! Great idea. Never thought of that one. I could do that. And also, yes, I need to clear out more of my stuff. I'll go naked to make some space in my closet. Lol!

I kind of feel guilty for not being able to bond with baby while making up the nursery and stuff. I feel kind of disconnected!

Im in the same boat as you :( We wanted to move to a two bedroom apt when our lease was up in August, but everything is just so expensive! So we have to somehow make it work- My main goal is to become a storage and organizing freak! LoL- There are alot of spacesavers for closets- Im actually putting the baby's crib on a corner of our room, and hoping that the changing table will fit there too- We have our computer there now, so that is something we have to sacrifice and just only use our laptop- We are lucky to have a pretty big closet- I already have a little corner for baby's clothes to be hung up- There is a really cool closet saver for babies at Walmart.com- It comes with like 28 pices and it has cubbies and everything. Im also getting one of those plastic sressers with the drawers- I figure I would but alot of babie's stuff in there- Our apartment is very tiny, so I have to really work around it, but I think its something you can do, Just do some research of storage solutions, and you'll see there is a bunch of stuff out there designed for small spaces :)

We are also in a tiny 1 bed flat. We are council tenants and our council refuse to move us until baby is born and so we're having to make our living room into a bedroom because its bigger otherwise we just wouldn't fit everything in. The bedroom will be a little living room until we get moved.

I have just been made redundant so we have no choice but to stay this way and wait for the council to move us as we couldn't afford private renting now.

I'm upset that i won't have a nursery to decorate either.. Xx

We are rooming with my BIL and his fiancee, so we are sharing our room with the baby. We are giving up some of our storage to make room for the baby. Our room can fit a bassinet and we will use that for the first 5-6 months and hopefully will have our own place in time to assemble the crib. I guess we just have to make do, I also would love to decorate a nursery, but when we do get our own room I plan on decorating his/her room! We plan on having a theme still, but focusing on bedding, mobile, and toys. The bassinet we picked out is a safari themed. Under the bed storage is a great idea!

Check these items out from walmart:

So far, I have figured that baby can have his crib in a corner in our room, we used to have 3 dressers in our room but now need to downsize to fit baby. I just have no idea where all of OH and my clothing will go...apparently we have a lot, yet i've got nothing to wear. Hmm.

Dolphin, love the idea of that closet organizer at walmart. I will look into that. We have a little space in the closet, so wwant that as organized as possible. Our living room also is packed and will be hard to fit the swing, bouncy seat, bumbo, play mats, etc.

I wish I could see when we will be out of this house in the near future, but we are really really backwards with this mortgage and its an old, small, house. BOO!

Me !! i live in a one bed apt as you know and im sharing with baby.. it does look small but i cant help it.. i have to adjust until we sort something out.., xxx hope you are able to sort something out.. you may want to have LO with you for 2 months atleast considering feeds/ changing etc.. dont know?

what I do already and this is without baby to add to the mix is sort all my clothes from winter and summer and then store appropriately. You can get those vacuum storage bags that you can load with the clothes and then suck all the air out of them and store them until that season comes round again and then swap.
I havent got a specific nursery for baby, we do have more than 1 bedroom but I already have 2 girls so someone is going to have to share and atm they are arguing who.

However, our room isnt big enough for the crib/moses basket to have in as it is so not sure what will happen there, we may have to move before babs is born but cannot leave this rented place til september which will only give me a month til Im going in for c section....... no pressure then lol

We live in a small two bedroom. I don't plan to change the guest bedroom much, since its already full with one queen bed, a table and a night stand.

We plan to make the baby sleep in our bed room. Everyday when I go in, all i do is look around to try and figure out how everything will fit. There is already so much stuff! Here are my plans:
a. Get rid of clothes we don't need - there are so many clothes that I never wear, but find it hard to give away. Now i think is a good time to clear out the closet.
b. We have a dresser that is mostly used for other random things like medicines, documents etc. I am going to clear the dresser out and try to put the documents etc in a box. Then I plan to line the dresser with paper, so it can be used for baby's clothes.
c. I have an office table, but nothing on top of the table. It's just the right size, so I was thinking if getting a changing pad and using the table as a changing table. There should be enough space to keep a few other things like wipes, lotions etc.

This is what I plan to do. I think our biggest problem is we have too much stuff, and this is a good time to get rid of things we don't really need (which if you look carefully is probably 50 % of everything you have!).

I am confident our babies will grow up just fine so long as they receive our love and nurturing :) Everything else is secondary. Thanks dolphin, for the organizer suggestions, I am going to look into them.

When my brother was living in a very small one bedroom apartment years ago his wife got pregnant unexpectedly and they couldn't afford to move to a larger place. They did however remove the door from a smaller walk in closet in the hall that was right outside their bedroom and decorated it. They had a tall dresser, put in shelves, and had the crib all in this little space and it actually looked lovely. You wouldn't even realize that it was a closet. Do you guys have anything like this? It worked quite well for the first year till they could save the money up enough to move into a larger 2 bedroom. I wish that I had pictures but I don't. Also I know several people who make a special space in their bedroom decorate it and just becomes the babies nursery corner. Can be done in a very tasteful way. I'm sure whatever you do it will turn out great. Just may need to move things around a bit and get really creative, but it can be done.

Im in the asme situation, no room for baby :(
We are actually in the process of buying a house if we find something good before baby is born it will be awesome but if not baby will sleep with us for a few months, that is why Im juat buying the essentials I dont want to get all the stuff for the room until she actually has a room.. I have no space for all the baby gear!

We are living with inlaws at the mo. Our bedroom is quite small, we do have an en suite tho. If we cant get a place before bubba is here, we will just have to make do. Move furniture around, get rid off some stuff etc. It will be ok!

We're in the same position. I hate this economy lol! I think it's gonna work ok though, we've rearranged the bedroom and bought all new furniture, cot fits nicely in the corner and actually looks really sweet. We also had two big couches so we're getting rid of those and buying a corner setee which makes extra room for this cupboard we got from Next, we're going to keep baskets in there with toys and extra supplies and general stuff. Our apartment actually looks ten times better for it to be honest......I was panicking a few weeks ago tho. We just have to make the best of a situation we have no control over, I've come to try and think that otherwise I stress out. I try and think well at least it's clean and tidy and nicely furnished and baby will be loved to bits and that's all that matters :) x

Thanks girls. There are some very good suggestions here that I will for sure try and use. The under bed storage, the closet hanging organizer....also someone mentioned using a table for a changing table - well one of our dressers is lower and PERFECT shape and size for a changing table if I just put a pad on top of it. Never thought of that. So that is really great.

now, I wonder how to make it still look cute and baby - like in the corner that the baby's bed will be in...the room isnt huge, but will have a corner for the bed and hopefully a little shelving....maybe a large rug in front of crib or some cute pictures on wall by crib.....

I was looking at Ikea online and they have some ideas for this type of thing. They had some storage up high on shelves where people usually have just empty, wasted space. Also, they did a lot of hooks on wall where usually space is not being used either. Theyve got cute drawer organizers and baskets as well. They did some curtain usage on the ceilings to separate areas in the room but not sure I want to close a curtain around baby's crib......

Thank you ladies. I feel like less of a loser to hear im not the only one dealing with it- and yes, our babies will be loved, and taken care of. I would want him in my room for the first few months anyways!

Don't know if this will help, but thought of you when I read your situation. This is the first step, with parts 2 and 3 linked at the bottom.

Does anyone else not have a bedroom for baby? I have been super duper stressed about all of this.

We rent a 2-bedroom duplex so we have an extra room, but some of my friends had two kids and could only afford a 1-bedroom place in the beginning. They have a bigger place now. It was challenging, and they have very simple accommodation, all sleeping on some cheap duvet and having the tiniest kitchen possible, but are one of the happiest lovely families I know! Do not worry too much.

We are not doing much decoration and definitely not painting, because we have to move out approx. 6 months after the baby is born. Not sure where yet but it is faculty housing that cannot be extended. So it is even worse - I might have to be taking care of a baby and looking for new flats/houses and moving. Quite stressful.

I just read this blog, which is nicely written but makes me jealous :

Some of the items in this nursery/playroom cost more than our entire budget for a nursery. It is really a nice nursery, though.... I just wish I could provide the same. I will provide other things instead ;-)

Anyway, do not worry - tons of people were in similar situation and they made it with happy babies!

I know someone who has 3 LO's but only has a 1 bedroom place. Her and her Dh have a sofa bed in the lounge while the children have the bedroom. They use a storage cupboard in their hallway for their clothes and have bedside table/draws as side tables in the lounge where they keep sock's and underwear lol. Not ideal but they make the best of what they got until they can afford bigger :)
