No Rubella (German Measles) Immunity

Heya

I just got the results from my first bloods and other than having vow vit D i have no immunity to rubella, i'm a little worried as i know it can cause serious birth defects in anyone that contracts the virus in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue and what you are doing to handle the situation. Should i avoid shopping centres and public places until after 12 weeks?? WHAT DO I DO!!! I work with the public as i'm in retail so that can't be avoided.... but still...

Anyone have any suggestions or going through something similar?

Hi, I am also non immune to rubella... but it isn't an issue really because it's not prevalent here.... it's very rare..... I am a nurse and work in a hospital, and I'm just taking normal precautions with handwashing. I hope this helps. I am not sure if you have community health nurses there, but if you do, check with them to see if there has been any reported cases lately?!

When I was pregnant with my son I was told the same thing. I also work in retail. I just made sure to wash my hands often and I tried not to worry about it too much being its really not that common anymore as most people are vacinated for it. I was given a shot for it as soon as he was born.
