I didnt know where to put this, but seeing as my DD is FF I thought I'd ask here...

During the day it takes up to 20 minutes to get the wind up from my DD, and of a night time it's longer, nothing comes up! So when I lie her back down as I don't think there's any wind after so long in trying, she brings her milk back up, then it's the whole thing over again as she's then still hungry...
I asked the midwife and HV and they said they don't have to bring up wind everytime?
It's not causing her any bother, it's not trapped as such, during the day when she doesn't bring any wind up she brings her milk up instead but after some feeds when she does have wind and burps she keeps her milk down? All her bottles are anti-colic bottles, could this have something to do with it?

Any advice please on how to bring it up of a night time? :flower:

I totally understand what you mean! If I lay my baby down after a feed and she hasnt burped then a few minutes later a mouthful or two of milk will come back up. What I find usually works if patting and rubbing on the back doesnt work, is to just sit baby upright on your knee (even if they are asleep) and the wind usually brings itself up after a little while. If no wind has come up after ablut 15-20mins of her sitting upright then its usually safe to lay her down and she isnt sick. xx

Thank you! It might be what helps brings the wind up during the day as majority of the time she is upright and hardly laying flat. :flower:

My lo is difficult to burp also, we use Dr. Brown's bottles and I do think the anti-colic type bottles do sort of make burping harder because it's only a little bit of air, still enough to need a burp though.

Try different positions, sitting up on your lap and lean her forward onto your hand and pat/rub with the other; over your shoulder and pat/rub; lay her, belly down, across your lap and rub her back. Keep changing the position she's in every minute or two and that helps move the air up. Also, I've found that firm rubbing in an upward direction works better than patting. If you have her over your shoulder make sure her legs are down (I'm sure she still likes her legs all tucked up so straighten them out), put her arms up over your shoulder, and rub upwards somewhat firmly. That's the best and quickest way I've found.

If it is disruptive at night to do the burping (wakes her up too much) then you can get away with not trying too hard to burp at night and instead prop up the head of her basennette or crib (either books or something under the legs of a basennette or something under the mattress of a crib. That should help her not spit up.
