I really like the name Noa/Noah for a girl.

Apparently the name Noa is a legitimate girls name of Hebrew origin that is separate from the male name Noah and means something completely different. But every time I write it out, it feels.... incomplete? Almost like it looks weird workout the h on the end.

At the same time, Noah really is a boy name (in like 95% of cases), so I feel like she would struggle if I use the masculine spelling. People will always tell her she has a "boy name".

The name sounds the same, so why am I being so picky about the spelling?

Thoughts on which spelling you would use for a girl? Does it matter these days or not? I haven't pitched the name to dh yet. Just wanted some other thoughts first.

Thanks!

I have a female friend named Noah, I think it works fine. I agree that Noa looks incomplete, so I definitely prefer the traditional boy spelling.

To me Noah is a boys name so I would use Noa. I think it looks neat and is very pretty too.

Noa, definitely! Noah in Hebrew is actually said slightly differently. The Noa spelling is beautiful so no need to use the masculine one. Plus I think Noa is really unique but Noah on a girl just looks like you're following the trend of using common boy's names on girls.

I love Noa BTW, considered it if we had a girl, it's such a gorgeous name! Actually prefer it on a girl.

I think Noa looks incomplete too. I'd go for Noah. I love "boy" named on girls though!

I love Noa. We're planning on naming our next child Koah (if it's a boy) and we debated a bit between Koah and Koa. We decided we like Koah better for a boy but if it had been for a girl we like Koa.

I almost picked Noah for my little girl, and was going to spell it the traditional way with the "h". I ended up going with Joey for my girl and spelled it the traditional way as well. That way no one is confused! I gave her a very feminine middle name as to make sure people knew she was a SHE and not a HE! :flower:

I like Noa for a girl a little better. :flower:

Thanks for all the positive responses!!!!

DH didn't go for Noa/Noah for a girl. It's just "boy" to him. I may push it for a second baby because he didn't HATE it. But we did end up coming to an agreement on Emelia for a girl. For now, anyway. Lol

Definitely Noa, looks more feminine and pretty. Written down it looks completely girly whereas Noah written down would usually be assumed a boys name and I would worry about that with supply teachers reading registers in school etc

For me its a boys name, but i have heard it used for girls before. They all spelt it Noa x

Noah is our boys name choice, I just can't see it as a girl and think people will always presume she is a boy, I guess there is more chance with noa but when ever it's not written down people will assume boy
