Non constipating lactose free milk?

Does anyone know of a lactose free milk that won't make my baby constipated? He is on SMA lf and is loads better but gets so constipated. Have tried water and fruit juices but didn't help doctor has given his laxative but don't want him to have to take this all the time as when he was on the other normal milk was never constipated. He is 3 months.

Are you on SMA gold or SMA lactose free? If not you can try this I think it's got a blue lid? Or there is Aptamil comfort which has reduced lactose...Or there is cow and gate infasoy if you wanted to avoid cows milk all together. I think you need a doctor to give the OK for this though even though you can buy it from the supermarkets.

Don't give soya milk to a boy under a year, it has been linked to infertility problems in males later in life.

True lactose intolerance is actually incredibly rare, especially in the UK and if your LO is truly lactose intolerant it won't be outgrown. Cow's milk protein intolerance is more common.

You can try one of the comfort milks or if you LO has a milk intolerance as for a hypoallergenic or amino acid based milk instead like Neocate LCP, Nutramigen LIPIL or Aptamil Pepti. You can only get them on prescription but they are quite constapating anyway due to the way they are digested.

You can use lactulose and it won't cause any long-term problems x

He is on SMA lactose free given by the dr after he had a stool sample test showing he was lactose intolerant. He was constantly screaming which has stopped since changing milk but now has this problem. He was on the comfort milk before but always cried. Just wondered if changing brands would help. The dr said he can't have lactulose as has lactose so has given him another laxative but I don't want him to have to always have it if there is another lactose free brand I could try. Thought his body might get used to it but has been over a month on this milk now

Sorry hun but how often is little one going for a poo? Jacobs on the lactose free sma milk too and goes every other day! Mind u he often looks as if he's straining!! Not really got many suggestions other than changing milks again but not sure if it'd make much difference x

He is pooing every other day or sometimes everyday but it is rock hard and he is constantly trying to poo and yesterday tore his bottom and was bleeding. He's called Jacob too!

Aww bless him! That's mad that their both called Jacob and r haven similar probz! My Jacobs poo is not hard but is def more clumpy if that makes sense tmi!! To tear ur lo's bum he must b quite uncomfy, keep on at the docs and see wat they can suggest x
