Normal?

Well I went to the doctor, and it was a complete waste of time. She just told me to speak to my health visitor, and the HV would decide if it's reflux or not before they take a look :hissy:

Whaaaaat? They could of saved you and themselves 2 further trips by just seeing to her there and then!!

ugh, 2 doctors diagnosed Jasmine with reflux, but both refused to give us a prescription for ranitidine. She sometimes throws up every 5 mins.

She was even screaming in the surgery :dohh: (Though from being tired, not sore)

I'm really annoyed now. She said my HV had to come and chat to me to make sure it's reflux. What, am I untrustworthy or something?!

I even printed off that list you posted PP and gave it to her.

Well I rang my HV as they never rang back.

She basically told me I had to go back to the doctor as there is nothing they can do, but that the doctor probably won't do anything either as they don't like to treat reflux :hissy:

I am going through 2 muslins every feed for having to wipe up sick and she is screaming pretty much all the time right now, Why won't they help? :hissy:

Try and get an appointment at feeding time lol and they can see for themselves!!

I knew something was up with Brooke but couldnt put my finger on it, i read this post and Brooke fitted it perfectly. Turned out she has reflux

Her symptoms are:

Seems irritable after all/most feeds;
Appears to be in pain - stiffens her body, arches her back (sometimes) will yell out/cry in short bursts and we didn't know why;
Frequent hicups - sometimes quite nasty;
When she is laid flat, she sometimes sounds like she has liquid in her throat that she swollows back down;
When laid flat, she sometimes regurgitates a little of her milk (spits it out);
Sometimes brings milk back when she burps;
Very fidgety/restless in her sleep - makes grunting noises alot;
Her nose is often stuffy - easy to miss - only noticed when GP pointed it out.

It may well not be Reflux but that post helped me, it may end up helping you :hugs:

My goodness Alfie does all of the above, all the time. He cries loads too, I find getting him to sleep and then waking him for a feed helps, he seems to take it much better then and has less pain, maybe because he is more relaxed??

If I let him cry at all before a feed then we are in real trouble, he will only managed 20mls before screaming till he falls asleep and it continues like that for hours, last night he cried from 6pm till 1.30am.

I hope you get something sorted hun. xx

Shes been violently screaming since 7pm :hissy: She did cry herself to sleep, but that only lasted 20mins. I am getting so fucking upset now :cry: I rang the hospital, who said she has text book reflux, but that they can't do anything so I have to go back to my doctor :hissy: The doctors office then said that they don't have any appointments until the 13th. I'm going to ring tomorrow and demand to be seen!

:shock: I can't believe they wouldn't do anything

I'm so friggin upset right now, because no one will help :cry: I hate seeing her in this much pain. I'm trying to let her comfort feed but she keeps throwing her head back with her body going stiff and screaming. I've tried calpol, a dummy, different positions, winding, walking with her....I'm at the end of my tether now.

Honestly, if she wont feed, dont make her. Jasmine would have as little as 16oz some days when it was really bad, and by doing that it calms the reflux down.

I know how frustrating it is, because I went to 2 doctors and neither would do anything. Although at her checkup next week im going to say something again. Everything is constantly covered with baby puke in my house.

Just keep her upright, syringe a little water into her because water helps the reflux pain too.

Thanks. I will defintly try cooled boiled water tomorrow as someone else has mentioned that too.

I am clinging onto the thought that she will grow out of it eventually!

She will grow out of it when she is running around :D

Yep, and then she will be into a whole other stage of mischief and trouble :rofl:

Think Sam has a touch of reflux, though he doesnt so much chuck his milk up but what looks like warm water about an hour or two after a feed, sometimes a little curdy other times clear. Doesnt seem to bother him too much though, just get the occasional unamused face.

Thanks for all the advice girls. OH took her to the doctor today and saw a different GP who prescribed her something straight away. We've only had one feed since, but shes like a different baby. Still bringing up quite a bit but no more painful screaming thank god!

That is fab news rafwife - glad my list that PP poted for you was helpfuL. Just one thing to beae in mind - if her medicine dose is prescribed according to her weight, you will need to keep an eye out for her symptoms worsening again as she may need her dose upped as she gains weight....sorry if im stating the obvious :blush:

Great news. Glad they finally prescribed something in the end.

Hope Niamh is feeding better soon. x
