Hi everyone,

I went for a gender scan yesterday with Babybond. When i arrived i was told they were running late, so i waited 30 minutes. I paid for the scan before i went in and the receptionist asked if i wanted to buy a DVD of the scan, i said yes. She told me the usual price for the DVD is £20 but they are doing a 'special' and its now £10. So i paid. I went in for the scan and was in there all of 7 mins! On the website it says you'll get offered 4D Freeview with the scan, they never showed me anything in 4D, all i had was a quick whizz round and got showed the gender. When i got out the room the receptionist came over and said i need to pay another £10, she said the DVD isn't Usually £20 but its £30 and on 'special' at £20, so i paid another £10. When i got the DVD home its only 6 minutes long and the first 20 seconds are of a black screen before the scan started! I can't believe i paid £79 plus £20 for the DVD for this. I have used Babybond before and never had a problem, i feel really disappointed and wish i hadn't bothered now. I also got 5 pictures but two are the exact same gender shot so i really got just 4 pictures.

I was going to send an email of complaint but i cannot find an email addy for headoffice and i don't want to email the centre i went to because obviously the receptionist will get it.

I think this happened to someone on here recently and they complained and were offered an appointment to go back x

I'm really not sure who to speak to, i can't find an email address on their site for head office and i don't really want to call the clinic i went to because the receptionist would answer. I don't really want to complain to her because she didn't seem to know what she was doing yesterday.

I would try if you are really not happy, or have you got an address so you can write to them?

I just looked again and can see their address in really tiny writing at the bottom of their website, kind of like they don't want you to find it! lol No telephone number or email address though.

I just found Babybond on facebook and it has the head office details with a telephone number, not open on sundays so i'll ring tomorrow. Not quite sure what to say though, i hate confrontation.

Just explain you have used them before and are normally really happy with the service but as they were running late you feel like they were rushing you and the dvd is only 6 minutes long, you've nothing to lose x

Thanks, i'll do that. Also going to mention the fact it says i'd get to see baby in 4D on their site but i didn't.

Shame, Babybond are normally really good... But I paid for the Gender scan, was the same price as yours, they said it would be around 10 minutes and the Gender scan does not include 4D preview, you have to have one of theo ther scans for that... Maybe it's different where you are?? xx

I just went and looked again at their website and copied this..

Babybond Gender Scan

Purpose of the scan: Babybond well–being check and professional opinion on the sex of the baby using ultrasound, available from 16 – 34 weeks gestation. Includes: Babybond well–being checklist, sexing of baby, thermal b/w images and 4DFREEVIEW™ £79 (Includes £30 deposit).

I knew i had read they are meant to give you 4D Freeview.

Definitely ring :( I had a great experience with bb and they brought me back once and were prepared to again if my scan wasn't ideal. I would guess you'd get something out of having a bad experience.

Just say the service felt rushed, you felt as though it was just more money, money, money before you'd even received and service and then you didn't get what was advertised. If they get arsey remind them of the advertising standards.....

If you read the website, the '4dfreeview' doesnt come with the gender scans.
And the point of a gender scan is to find out the gender, it isnt to get 4d
pics/dvd ect. If you wanted that, you would have been better booking a
4d scan. I had a babybond gender scan, and although it was quick i knew
that anyway, you are paying to find out the gender, and the appointments
are 20mins apart so all you get is the scan to check gender, a couple
of pics and off you go. Thats why it is so much cheaper than the 4d scans
which are over £100. x

p.s i have just seen that it now says comes with 4dfreeview, well they must
have changed it, because it didnt say that when i went for mine 4 weeks ago
and i wasnt disppointed, i got what it said i would get, gender and b/w pics.
My scan was the same as yours, so maybe they changed it on the website
and the scan people havent changed the scan. x

I had a gender scan with them last year and was happy with what i got, no they didn't do 4D freeview then. But this time i only booked the gender scan with them because it now includes the 4D freeview... well was meant to! This time i didn't get what i was meant to, a quick peek at the baby and the gender and rushed out the room by the receptionist who came back in to talk to the sonographer.

Hiya, can I ask which location you went to? x

I had a similar experience with my dating one and posted on here. The manager read my post on here and I got called back for another which was brilliant and back up to their normal great standard.

Defintiely say something because babybond are normally brill

Yeah they must've changed it very recently, you didn't get 4D freeview when I had mine... We got a freeview but only because we were waiting nearly an hour and it was kind of compensation...

Well, i spoke to a lovely lady this morning and she offered me a rescan free of charge for this wednesday. She was really apologetic, i wasn't rude or anything as I don't feel there is any need to be rude to people but i just said how disappointed i was and that i'd had very good experiences with them before. x
