My LO goes to daycare 3 days a week. For the last 4 months or so, he hasn't napped well at daycare. On the days he is at home, he sleeps 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.

At daycare, I am lucky to pick him up and find out he's had an hour sleep in total.

Does anyone elses LO sleep poorly at daycare? If so, was there anything you found that helped improve it? I am worried about ever going to fulltime work because of him sleeping poorly there and then he is overtired and cranky when we get him home and won't eat dinner and cracks tantrums right up until we put him down to bed.

He is moving up to the toddler group very soon and in that room, they only have one sleep a day. I am really starting to stress that I need to fix this sleeping soon!

No advice here as our LO typically takes one long nap a day (1.5-2 hrs) and two shorter ones (30-45 min) but when he goes to daycare he sleeps maybe 1.5-2 hrs total (all broken up into short naps). He has been going almost 3 months and his lack of naps there are the reason I haven't started back to work full time yet!

Yes, it's awful! He used to sleep fairly well there but it's only over the last few months that he has decided to stay up or only has short naps there. Nothing's changed. And I know financially over the next few months, I really have to look at doing an extra day at least but I worry because of his lack of sleep!

My dd1 is a terrible day-care sleeper. She started going when she was a bit older at 19 months and initially wouldnt nap at all, now she is more used to it she takes a 40 minute nap. I dont have any advice, though I did find she started sleeping after I started sending a pillow for her, maybe she was just really uncomfy before!

Try not to worry about going back to work, your lo will be a bit older and will manage on less sleep. Also you might find that by them giving him only one nap time, he might sleep longer. Maybe he is transitioning to one nap (but when he is home he is making up for the day before so will have 2!). I know its terrible picking up a cranky over-tired toddler from day-care, so know you are not alone!

Yeah his carer told me that lots of babies who dont sleep in Nursery end up sleeping when they move up to the Toddler room. So I hope she is right. He will be 15 months when he moves up, I just feel like we arent ready to drop the second nap yet.... Maybe I am just not ready haha!

It could also be that he is not there reegularly enough at the moment to create a true routine. This may change when he is there more.

I feel your pain...I am going to have to add another full day back at work too in about two months and I'm so nervous how he will sleep :(
