Hi All

I'm new to this site and have been reading lots of stories but wondered if someone could give me some thoughts on my situation.

I ovulated on September 2nd (with the assistance of fertility medication) but didn't get a positive test until the 20th. I've had numerous blood tests since and have listed the results.

09/20 - 25
09/23 - 141
09/25 - 277
09/27 - 536
10/04 - 2334 (had ultrasound which showed a small 2mm empty sac, no yolk - should have been 6w4d)
10/07 - 6213
10/11 - 8580
10/14 - 12948 (should be 8w)

My progesterone is good and ranging between 50 and 73 each time, although I am using progesterone pessaries.

I had a MMC in May this year and am so scared that it is happening again. I'm due for another ultrasound tomorrow (8w3d) but at the one on October 4th they told me to prepare myself for the worst as they should be able to see more than the very small sac. They said that if there is no development they would schedule me for another D&C as soon as possible. With my HcG rising as it is, although maybe a tiny bit slow? i'm not sure if i'm ready to commit to another D&C just yet.

Any thoughts on would be greatly received as I'm going out of my mind with worry at the moment and just don't know what to think :*(

Thanks for reading.

Hi hun,

So glad you found this site (it's a wonderful support network) and I am so sorry that you're having to worry right now. It's so awful having to wait and not know what's going on.

I have never had my betas done regularly, so I don't have a lot of experience with rising numbers. I do remember that when I had my miscarriage last year, my HCG was at 10,000 around 9 weeks, so I assume regular betas would have shown a rising HCG, even though the pregnancy wasn't viable (it was a blighted ovum). The rate at which your numbers are rising does seem to be good, although I agree with your doctors that only a small gestational sac at 6+4 is concerning. Plenty of women have had similar experiences where they couldn't see anything until later and had healthy pregnancies, but I'm not sure if that's the norm.

No matter what the scan tomorrow shows, you should only do what you're comfortable with. Even if your doctor recommends a D&C, if you're not sure and would rather wait to see what happens, then go ahead and wait. You need to be making the decision that you and your partner think is best for you. :hugs:

I am so, so sorry that you're going through this and I will be praying that your scan tomorrow shows good things! Please let us know what happens!!!

I'm so sorry this is happening to you and I pray and hope it's a happy ending for you. It could well be that you're wrong on your dates, or there's 2 babies in there? I was pregnant with twins and babies measured off one week and then the same the week after, initially they only saw 1 baby which was tiny. Unfortunately for me it did end in miscarriage but I have a history of them, 4 so far, so I imagine there's an underlying cause with me.

I understand about your apprehension with going for a D&C, for my first miscarriage of the year I too didn't quite believe in it, so opted to go for a natural miscarriage. In my eyes, if the baby was strong enough it would survive, if not, I'd miscarry naturally. I miscarried less than a week later. The downside is some women wait months and months to miscarry naturally, I suspected that to be the case for me with the twin pregnancy so opted for a D&C, the recovery time on that was much less than a natural miscarriage. That was 7 weeks ago and I now find myself 6 weeks pregnant, so know you can get there again really quickly.

I'm hoping someone with experience with HCG will respond now, as your post will at least be bumped. Keep us posted, you're in my prayers xxx

Thanks for your replies!

So, had my scan this morning. The sac has grown from 2mm to 14mm and they 'think' there may be a yolk sac growing, but if it is it is very very tiny. However, there is also another gestational sac sitting alongside the first one, measuring 3mm and does have a yolk sac. Due to the difference in size and that I was having fertility treatment, they think that I may have ovulated twice in one cycle? never heard that before!!!

They are still unsure whether this is going to be a viable pregnancy and have stopped doing any more blood tests as apparently they are now irrelevant as there are 2 gestational sacs.....

Just got to sit and wait for another 10 days before another scan!!

xxxxx

I said there might be 2 in there! So happy there's still hope!

You're in my prayers, keep us posted and I pray the next 10 days fly past and your little bean grows lots and lots xxx
