Nub Theory was WRONG!

Since about 2 weeks after my BFP, I have been feeling like this baby is a boy. At 12 weeks we had our NT scan and the doctor said he could make a guess if we wanted to hear it (of course we did). He said he was 90% sure it was a boy! (See 12 week scan pic in profile) Even the two ultrasound techs agreed boy.

So you can imagine my surprise when at the anomaly scan yesterday when the ultrasound tech said "Girl!" We told her they had guessed boy and she said that doctor was almost always right. But she used the wand to go from cord to butt and didn't see ANYTHING that looked like boy parts. Then in addition she pointed out the "3 white dots" that indicate girl and said she would be extremely surprised if she isn't a little girl when she is born.

Needless to say we are shocked! DH always wanted a girl and I am just happy for a healthy baby. BUT I've spent the last 7 weeks picking out boy names, boy themes, boy colors, and researching how boys differ from girls! Now I'm starting all over! Excited nonetheless, but surprised as hell!

Hahaha well congrats!!! When are you having another scan done? Maybe the next scan will def. confirm its a girl....

They won't do another scan at this point unless there's something wrong, so that's it! We did get a good potty shot, though, so I'm more confident in what the 20 week scan said over what nub theory said at 12 weeks.

Congratulations! I was also convinced I was having a boy and had the shock of my life when a gender scan at 16w+5d showed very clear girl bits

Congratulations, 12 week nub theory was wrong for me too. Everyone here guessed girl as the nub was less than 30 degrees and in line with spine, but 20 week scan revealed a boy.

Hey hun! I remember your scan pic with the nub (just looked again) and it is 100% a girl nub. The nub is parallel with the spine...I think the ppl who guessed boy based on your nub didnt know how to do it. The theory was correct for your 12 week scan!

yey on team pink xxx they dont use NUB here as its not accurate enough x

Looking at your 12 week scan picture the nub is not at an angle making me think of a boy. The nub is angled towards the spine meaning girl.. lol
