I don't know what I'm doing wrong, he indicates he is hungry so I try to feed him and then he screams, usually he will eventually latch on. It is just so distressing to see him so upset.

What my baby nurse told me to do (which she is also a lactation consultant) is squeeze a little milk out and bring the nipple to his mouth. If the nipple is dry she says its like teasing the babies. My son did the same thing and now he is fine and doesn't scream. Be patient, stay calm. If my son is screaming I calm him down and try again.

How old? My dd went on a nursing strike when she was cutting teeth.

I shall try the squeezing some milk out, thank you!

He's 11 weeks old, but I can see some white under his gum so was thinking he may be teething.

Yes could well be teething.

We had this a few times and I had most sucess with feeding while she was either asleep or very sleepy. Also walking around feeding.

Keep at it. I remember being very upset and thinking it was over, but it never was.
