Hi all!

My LO is 3 weeks old and is on nutriprem 2 as he was low birth weight. We seem to be having lots of trouble with the formula as its sooo thick. It doesn't drop out of the teats every second like it should, in fact it doesn't drop out at all!!! We're currently using Dr Brown bottles and level 1 teats and have previously used Avent (which we found hopeless). I'm so tempted to switch Charlie to 'normal' formula as he is taking ages to finish a bottle and seems to be getting a lot of wind - which we can't seem to get up! He was 5lb 14 oz born and dropped to 5lb 5oz. He was weighed on Monday and was 6lb 9oz, so put on over a pound in 2 and a half weeks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm so frustrated!

Hi, Chloe was on NP2, and we went upto a medium sized feed hole on the teats, it might be worth trying a size 2 teat, give him a day or so to get used to it tho. He might be getting more wind at the minute as he's having to suck really hard to get the milk out, before we went up a size in teats, chloe was falling asleep before the end of a bottle because she worn herself out, as soon as we changed teats she was downing the whole bottle in 15mins.

I wouldnt take him off it just yet, try a bigger holed teat and if your still having problems, talk to your doctor/hv/neonatal nurse.

Oh and over a pound in 2 and a bit weeks is good, we were told that 6/7oz a week was ideal, some weeks Chloe only managed to put on 1/2oz but she's making up for it now!!

HTH xx
