October/November 2012 Babies

How cute! We have the same walker, but it's black! Josalyn always honks the horn with her tongue!

Well Lanay's checkup went well. She just had to get a TB test...her doctor was shocked that she's 6 months already! We don't have to take her back til she's 8 months just for a weight check since she hasn't been into any type of baby food yet. He's not too worried cause she is still gaining and growing like a weed! She's up to 17lbs 12oz and is 27 1/2inches.
Here's a pic of her sleeping last night :)

Hey Annie! This thread has been quiet for a bit!

Josalyn is siting unaided as well. She has her two bottom teeth and no signs if any more.

We're doing BLW, and she's tried a lot of foods so far. Her favorite is guacamole! She'll get frustrated if I don't give her more quick enough. Other than messy foods like that though, we just put whatever we're eating on her tray and let her go at it. She's had sweet potato, green beans, bell pepper, cucumber, apple, peach, bananas, tomatoes, squash, spaghetti, chicken, French fries (only once! :) )

She's starting to get a hang of biting small pieces off, not huge ones that she can't swallow, but she's still not quite there. We have to take some things away from her if she just won't quit biting off huge pieces and trying to swallow them (like the chicken!)

She weighed 17 lbs 2 oz at her 6 moth appointment and was 27 inches long. She's wearing mostly 9 month clothes, but some 12 month already! She's getting so big, so fast!

Oh and one last thing. Last night she got up onto her hands and knees in crawling position 3 times! It was the first time she'd done that. She flopped back to her stomach in less than a second each time, but still! :)

Hi! We are trying the BLW as well and it's just not working so well as Carolyn still doesn't have any teeth. She was so super crabby today that I'm wondering if she may be getting them soon. So far she's had avocado, banana, pear, carrots, zucchini, broccoli and sweet potatoes. She cried because she didn't like the sweet potato. I think I may cave and start doing more purées. The BLW may not be for us. She did enjoy sucking on her broccoli and zucchini. Maybe it's more a problem with the time of day I'm trying. I can't figure it out.
She can flip both ways and is sitting unassisted but still flops over now and again. Usually she catches us off guard and ends up bonking her noggin and cries. It makes me feel awful.
Napping is a problem. She was like clockwork before my MIL came. Awake for 2 hours and then BAM needed a nap. My MIL had a really hard time getting her to sleep. I can get her to sleep but then she only sleeps for 10 minutes so I figured I'd try something different. I don't know what to expect... It has been unpredictable so far. Sometimes she sleeps a longer nap in the early afternoon, but the conditions have to be perfect. Unfortunately my life isn't really routine. My job is nuts and my dh's is too. So I think she is suffering from that. I am trying to just go with the flow, but I really liked the 2 hour awake then 45 minute nap because at least I knew what to expect. It was a drag needing to be home all day, but I felt less anxiety.
She still melts down in the car if I'm not back there with her to entertain her. She only tolerates it for about 15 minutes max.
I don't know. Things are pretty rough right now. I love this age as she can be so much fun. I'm stressing about baby proofing. We just moved into a new to us house and it's kind of a nightmare. We are going to focus on that next week so she doesn't catch us off guard.

Just remember Viking, food under one is for fun!! Obviously I've got no issue w/ purees, have done some myself, but I don't think there is anything wrong with baby just getting tastes from finger foods. I'm all for encouraging hand to mouth!! You can also do purees that are on the thicker side and load a spoon up for her to eat herself.

BLW is baby-led weaning. Means that baby sets the pace for what they eat and aren't being spoon fed a bunch of pureed food. You give them bits of food and they take and eat/gum/taste whatever they want.

And Viking, Vanessa has no teeth either and the other day I gave her a bit of chicken to suck on and when I got it back from her half of it was gone! She bit it right off (those gums are tough!) and gummed it and ate it!

Haven't had a whole lot here. taste of avocado (not a fan or bad time of day), banana, apple w/ blueberry, apple w/ sweet potato, pear w/ rice cereal/ squash w/ rice cereal, chicken & peas, going to try some peach and apples next I think.

Hi all...We've all been sick here and I don't have time to say much but please keep me in your thoughts/prayers...I might have to have surgery on my back. I will find out more on Tuesday June 4th. I will update then. Thanks :)

Okay thanks girls. I just will tell you real quick that I've been having back problems since I had Lanay. I went to a specialist finally and so far he doesn't know for sure because the images they sent with me aren't clear enough for him to diagnose the problem. He did say though that it looks like fluid in my spinal cord (another doctor told me cyst). He did say that would require surgery, he was in the room for less than 5 minutes because they were trying to see the images better and I guess since they never did he didn't come back. He introduced himself, asked me if I had people to watch my kids and then told me about the fluid and that it would need surgery. So, didn't get ANY detail which totally sucks. I have been having pain and numbness every day! It makes it hard to be active with my kids cause I'd rather just lay in bed. As soon as I lift Lanay up my back hurts then goes numb on my right side. It's really annoying and very scary. My husband and I have so many questions and I can't wait til Tuesday to find out what is going on!
I will update you all after my appt.
How's everyone? Lanay is sick again, I think just allergies but if her cough is bad today I may be taking her to the dr since I don't want her to suffer all weekend...

:hugs: Ashley :hugs: sounds like a nightmare  I hope that with the surgery they can clear things up for you. Back pain is horrid

Okay so its not what I ever expected. Do not have an exact diagnosis yet, but please keep me and my family in your thoughts. I will update when I get my results back.

any idea how long before you have results? hope everything is okay!

Poor thing Ashley ill keep u in my prayers....

Is anyone's baby crawling yet?
Bentlie still isn't oiling over from belly to back yet but she is sitting up...

Ashley, I hope you're alright!

Annie- Josalyn is very close to crawling. The last 2 days especially, she's been getting up on her hands and feet, bear crawl style. She looks like she's doing a push up. Today she lunged forward using her toes, which put her off balance and she fell on her face! She's ready to move, she's just got to figure out how!
