hi ladies i have my appointment with the anesthatist at 3:30

im really nervous have no idea why lol .

i have scoliosis and GD... i have been told from the start i may need to have a c-section.... are there any questions that i should ask them?

also will they be telling me today if i need one?
and be giving me a date for it?

i would love a natural birth... but realisticly the way ive been the last few months its no looking good :nope:. but aslong as she gets here safe and sound thats all that matters :cloud9:

aaaaahhhhh my heart is racing

thankyou any suggestions would be great :flower:

xxxxxx

thankyou hun!

just come out from the hospital.... they looked at my back and said that i can have an epidural if i need/want one as the worry was because of my scoliosis they wouldnt be able to

he put in my notes for consultant that im worried that the size of the baby (caused by GD) and my size (im tiny for my age) and my back problem that a natutral birth would be to much, but its somthing i need to discuss with him.

i'd of loved a natural birth.... im just really scared tbh :( that i wont be able to do it

Glad your appointment went well. I met mines at my 35 week appointment only to be told that they won't be able to tell me whether I'll be allowed an epidural or a spinal until the day I'm admitted to hospital in labour. I have a blood disorder and they need to check my blood before they can decide and because its variable it depends on the blood test that they do on that day. Its left me feeling a bit nervous to say the least.

Sounds like a positive meeting. If you want a waterbirth then I'd say "go for it"! You can always change your mind during it.

The "big baby" risk with GD (shoulder dystocia) is actually increased with the use of an epidural - so going without is actually safer for your bubs than going with it. Labouring naturally is the safest way to deal with it, because if anything occurs, you can easily move yourself around (ie. an all 4's position, gaskin maneuver). Your body size doesn't matter - I too am a petite woman and my son had severe shoulder dystocia, I did enough reading about it to realize that obesity is actually a risk factor, and not petite size. An actual small pelvis (which is extremely rare) has nothing to do with your frame itself.

If you don't have a C-section, I recommend reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth to help you get through a safe natural labour. Good luck!!
