OH loves a name but I don't...

I feel bad because OH is in love with the name Caitlin but for some reason I can't put my finger on, I don't think I love it 'enough'. I really do like it & I've tried over the past few weeks to think I'll love it more when she's here and called that but I'm just not convinced......but then I feel mean when OH likes it so much!

Has anyone else called there LO something they weren't 100% on & grown to love it?

Our surname is also Lawrence so I'm not sure if Caitlin Lawrence goes - it's the 'lin Lawrence' bit. Oh I don;t know!

When I see people whose LOs are called Caitlin I think it's lovely but for some weird reason I can't see it as a name for my LO really...I wish I just didn't like it cos that'd be easier to explain! I like it for other peoples but not for mine?!?!?

Caitlin is cute, but if you aren't sold on it, are there any similar names you both like? Cailyn/Kaylen, etc? Or if you don't like the 'lin' part, maybe

Don't use it, perhaps think of alternate names as mentioned above ^^
I know how you feel because I loved the name Alastair until my gender scan where I saw he was a boy, and saw him clearly moving about, it just didn't feel right. But now my OH loves it, and I've told him I don't like it anymore and luckily he's now accepted that, but at first I felt a little mean cos I'd actually chosen it to begin with

That is number one on our list if squishy is a girl - so I love it. Why not keep that name 'on the table' as it were, find another you also both like and see what suits her when you see her?

Maybe you can't love it for your LO, as you haven't seen her face to see if it is her. IYKWIM.

I agree, if you can find one that's similar that would be a great compromise! there are lots of cute/pretty ones.

Myself and my Hubby love the name Kahlan (Pronounced kay-lan) but i have a feeling we are having a boy. If its a girl - we have our name. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks everyone. Talked to OH this morning & tried to explain that I do like the name but I seem to like it more for someone else's baby - if so and so said their baby was called it I'd think 'that's lovely' but there's something about it for us I just can't put my finger on.

He looked at me like I was a loon

But he said it was fine & we're now thinking of using Katie/Katy/Kate instead which we both like & I think goes very well with Emma. Only problem is there is already a Katie Lawrence in OHs family, she's about 10. We see her at Christmas & that's it so it's kinda tough.....& she'll get married & change her name one day too, LOL!

I work with a woman who recently named her baby Katelyn & they call her Katie as a nickname -- that way your husband can use the name he loves but you can call her a name you love PLUS it wont be exactly the same as your relative!! Win-Win!
