Okay, maybe a silly question.

So when I went in for my U/S last week I was 8weeks+6days according to my LMP. The doctor said I was actually 7weeks+4days according to the size of the baby. So my due date would then go off of the 7 weeks & 4 days.. and not the 8 weeks and 6 days right? Or is your due date based off your LMP no matter what? Sorry if that isn't a smart question, I just got to thinking about it today when I read something on a website.

the scan is what the hospital will go by .. so take that one xx

Even if you are dead sure about the LMP, you may have ovulated later and not at Day 14 as is commonly assumed. So I would go with the scan for now.

But then, scans aren't always accurate at this stage - the ultrasonographer might also not be great at his/her job... see how it goes at your 12 week scan, and it might give you more of an accurate due date.

Your due date will go by the dating scan. You may have ovulated later in your cycle hence the doctor saying your earlier than you thought. Using LMP gives them a rough idea to your stage of pregnancy but cannot be completely accurate. In saying that, the baby could come early or come late so your due date is only an estimate.

 Okay :) Thanks ladies.. that makes sense.

Implantation can also take 7-14 days... which also explains the difference! You should be going by the dates from the scans, but they can change throughout the pregnancy!

Good luck!
