Old wives tales, were they right for you?

Hey ladies!

So I did the Chinese gender prediction and the ring test with this baby and I found out today they were both right! They were also right with DD, so my question is, were they right for you too?

What did you do? Was you gut right?

With DD I did the cabbage test, the Chinese lunar test, the ring test and many more. All but the cabbage test were right. I still laugh when I think about the things I did to work it out.

i nvr did any tht lol but when son born sum1 asked if i had bad heartburn as he had full head hair lol(i had horendous heartburn) my second heartburn 2 an she had head hair to an nw 21+2 with 3rd an heartburn started nearl 2months ago wunder if it had hair lol.

My mom swears by the heartbeat test. Under 150, it's a boy, over it's a girl. It was true for both me and my brother, and it was true for my son (he averaged around 147).

So far this baby's heartbeat is 167, so my mom is swearing it will be a girl. Poor thing. Can't it just be a baby? I guess I just don't care, but my family is SO anxious for a girl, it kind of makes me feel bad.

The heartbeat one is the only one that rang true for us. It's a little girl and her heartbeat usually is between 150-165 and has since we first saw/heard it. I guess the baking soda test worked too but everything else said boy!

With DS, we did the ring test and Chinese gender prediction. Both said girl, so wrong! The only thing that was right was heartbeat. His first ultrasound was 158, but after that it stayed around 142.

With this one, so far everything is saying girl again. Heartbeat was 158 at the first appointment, then 154 at the second. Chinese Gender predictor, ring test, and baking soda test all say girl. Guess we will find out 2 weeks from tomorrow!

I googled old wives tales and 99% of them said girl.

the heartbeat test was totally wrong for me- this baby hasn't been below 160 yet, and it's a boy!

-I've been craving cheese, and having very bad headaches- those are about the only boy things that have applied to me... several of the girl things have applied as well. guess there's always a 50/50 chance, right? haha

The chinese gender chart was right for me both times as long as I used the one where it calculates your lunar age, if I went by my actual age it was off.

The ones that were true with my Daughter:
-Her heartbeat was 166 at my first U/s (At 7 weeks). They were lower (around 140/150) for the rest of the pregnancy.
-The ring test (although I found it silly)
-My cravings tended to lean towards sweets, fruits, etc.
-I dreamed of having a boy 3 times (it's supposed to mean the opposite)

What was wrong about my Daughter:
-I carried really Low!
-Had extra-clear skin (supposedly, lots of acne=girl)
-I was happier and more laid back than usual (supposed to be more moody!)

This time I'm having a Boy! And what was right for me:
-His heartbeat was 140 at 11 week u/s
-Ring test (yes, again!)
-Craving lots of meat & protein, cheese, and salt!
-I dreamed twice he was a girl!
-Still have totally clear skin
-Still carrying baby really low!

& Finally what was wrong about my lil man:
-I sleep mostly on my right side (supposedly, left=girl, right=boy)
-Had terrible morning sickness, 400X worse than with DD.
-I'm extremely moody/more aggressive this time around.

I took a couple quizzes that had tests within them. Most of them pointed towards girl, but a few were boy. The heartbeat suggested a girl. But the Chinese calendar suggested a boy. We found out yesterday we are having a girl

All wrong for me apart from the Chinese Gender Calendar. That was correct both times.

I've had morning sickness, craved sweets, first sons heartrate was 151 this ones is 161 etc

All wrong, most this time and last. Last time, chinese gender was right. This time, wrong. Heartbeats wrong each time. Basically, old wives tales and my own intuition have always failed me.

I did all the old wives tales and the chinese gender chart anf for the they were right, she's all girl in there

But, since I already have a little boy, I did them for when I was pregnant with him and strangely enough, they were right for him too

I think there ar some truths in them but I love to do them, they're a great way to have fun guessing your LO gender before you find out

aside from HG, my pregnancy with this one is pretty similar to my pregnancy with DS. But HG is a huge game changer. I am having a girl.

NOTE: I believe strongly I avoided HG with my son because of mirtazapine use, not because of gender. I am confident if I had not been on mirtazapine with my son, I'd have had HG with him as well. FWIW, HG babies are split 50/50 boys and girls.


With both, Chinese predictor was boy.

Out of about 25 including Chinese gender and intelligender test...about 98% said boy...it's a girl!!!
