I didnt really believe in the idea of old souls and young souls until I had Willow, but comparing River and Willow its like looking at the definition of the two.

Willow is so sweet and has always seemed "new", she experiences everything with a wonderful innocence.

River was the grumpy one, took a lot of make her smile and always seemed to understand more then she should have. Alot more common sense and strange wisdom.

Does anyone else look at their LO's or even themselves and think "i/they have been here before"?

Or am i a bit weird :haha:

 You're not being weird, I have friends who seem to know the ways of the world far too well for someone their age. It's strange isn't it

I always thought this with Brian, I remember saying when he was about 6 months old that it seemed like hed been here before and wasnt thrilled about being back

I definitely believe in old and young souls. I think Holly is a young soul as she took ages to do anything (she literally did nothing for 7 months apart from cuddled me ) but once she started it seemed to give her the confidence and now she's so excited about everything and is constantly exploring, it's lovely to see :)
Some of my friends have referred to their babies as old souls as it didn't seem like they were babies for long because they did everything so quick as if they already knew how to do it

Don't have little ones yet but I have strong deja vu moments!!

Btw, you kind of look like an English Zooey Deschanel!!!

I definitely believe in old and young souls. My friend's little boy seems like a bit of an old soul but my lovely children seem like new souls. Especially Lily. When we are out walking with her in her pram she is absolutely fascinated with everything like it is all so brand new, even though we walked the same way yesterday, and the day before, and the day before etc. She laughs at so much like everything is so wonderful and amazing. It's brilliant x

No I completely agree, although not with my children but with myself x

Your willow is my DD and River is my DS! Some of the things that DS comes out with makes me turn my head and :saywhat:....he mentioned something about Christmas the other day that made me think, thats too old for him to know

DD seemed new, things make her jump and she gets frightened a lot more quickly. DS seems to know stranger danger already, where she would happily walk off with anyone.

My LO is a bit young to determine whether she'll be a young or old soul. But I remember family members saying I was an old soul when I was a child and I'm inclined to agree with them. I'm definitely a lot wiser and knowledgeable than people tend to give me credit for, I think that's down to the fact that I look really young so people assume I am young minded if that makes sense.

God that sounds really pig headed of me lol!

Ryan's definitely an old soul! He's always in such a rush to reach milestones - like his new body is holding him back. While he does get excited about things, he always seems indifferent to things we think are a big deal. He's also just always had this look in his eyes that wasn't new? People used to comment on it when he was really little and it took me a while to see it, cause obviously he was new to me, but I get it now.

I definitely believe in it... Aleksander is a new soul he's constantly smiling and happy and is fascinated by the world around him. Where as Mikhail is just different... He smiles rarely, spends lots of time just quietly watching and when you look in his eyes you don't see a baby.

My mom always said I was born at least 10 years old already. My previous self must have died a relationship-virgin though, that's the only area of life that I feel like I had to learn!!

I'm not sure if it's "old souls" or just more keen observation skills/being more attuned to what you casually pick up from the world around you, so it "seems" like they already know so much stuff. It's neat though!

I always say my DD is 2 going on 22! and my DS is just like an over excited puppy!

everyone comments M is like a little old man! He is really serious about things and his mannerisms are like an elderly person. He is obsessed with the Tudors and WW2. He is very advanced with his understanding of wars and things. He is not just interested in the planes and tanks etc but he likes to know motives/objectives and he understands them! He is very wary of people too. x

I was supposed to be wick when I was younger.

I don't think I've been here before though - I'm think as pig crap in some things

I've had about 5 different people say they are sure Daisy has been here before and I agree with them!

Lydia was born an old soul, I'm sure of it. DH and I said it to each other the day she was born. There was just this look in her eyes, it was as though she knew exactly what was going on and who we were and wasn't surprised by anything at all. Really hard to explain, it was just...there was a lot going on inside her mind, I could tell.
Also she learned how to speak from a pretty young age, and even now she has skipped up a grade in school, and she picked up things like chess and backgammon in the blink of an eye, as though she had done it all before. She's interested in all history and science and just everything makes me think she's somebody who has gone through it all previously really.

Alex I'm not sure about. He struggles more with things than Lydia. I'm inclined to think he's probably a new soul but it's a bit hard to tell.

Jason, again hard to tell. He doesn't struggle with anything but I don't necessarily get an "old soul" vibe with him the same way I do (and always have done) with Lydia. He could be, but it's perhaps not as obvious. On the other hand he doesn't seem quite as new as a new soul presumably would lol, so I don't know.

I often think Sophie has been here before - she seems to know so many things I wouldn't expect her to know, and she comes out with some really old fashioned expressions...I keep thinking "Where on earth did she get that?!"

x

Pretty much everyone who has ever met Lucas has said he's been here before

I don't believe in it mind but I don't believe there is such a thing, it is funny though to see little ones acting as if they're grown-ups! Lucas walks around with a proper swagger like he knows the world, it's so cute.

People always said William was an old soul, he knew things he wasnt meant to.

Like last year he said when we had an old toy police type thing,
"thats like the ones they used in the war"
it was one from the 40s, a really old toy one. He dosnt even know what the war is, was or anything about it. And loads of other stuff.
