Olivia or Oliver?

Which do you prefer? We don't know the gender but these are our two favourite names. I'm certain baby is a boy & can't decide if we should call him Oliver & use a different girls name if we are lucky enough to have a girl in a few years time (there's quite a few girls names we like, it's just Olivia is my favourite) or if we should name our first boy Jack, then if we have a girl name her Olivia, or if we have a second son call him Oliver! Lol. So much to think about!! I wish I could have both names but they don't sound good together!

If there is one which is your that you think you'd be so sad not to use I'd go for that. So if Olivia is your absolute favourite girls name whereas Oliver is one of your favourites for a boy but not head and shoulders above other names I'd go with a different boys name so you can use Olivia in the future, especially if you plan to have anther child and know you should be able to use Oliver if you have another boy.

Will you find out the gender?

I quite like them together for siblings, they sound similar but not too similar.

Olivia is rather common now though - I'm not sure if that's something you look at or not, but thought I'd mention it x

Yeah we will be finding out the gender in 3 weeks, but I know once I know the gender this is the thing we will need to consider once we know the gender. I'm certain baby is a boy. I liked Olivia before it became really popular tbh, so it doesn't bother me too much. We'd probably call her Livvy more than her full name.

I agree Eleanor Ace, but my only worry with that is Oliver is one of two boys names we like, the second name being one we like, not love! So we could do with finding another boys name we really love (although we've been trying to find one for ages!) lol

Both nice names, I wouldn't personally use it because every second boy I meet I'd called Oliver at the moment! No Olivia's yet though!

I'd use whichever is appropriate for this baby as by the time you get pregnant with another one you may have different preferences anyway or have two of the same. As it is you have names you love and I wouldn't make it harder on yourselves trying to second guess the future.

I agree with this. The names that I like now are not the same ones that I liked when I was pregnant with my LO and they might even change again before we actually have our next kid. So I'd use either name this time.
