opinions on getting hair dyed while pregnant

I spoke to my hair dressers about this the other day as i have a wedding to go to at the end of september and they said its fine providing i dont want it direct on the scalp which i dont - i have packets.

if im honest, i wouldnt be having it done if it wasnt for the wedding but i look a total state! i had my hair done before xmas last year and fell pregnant in feb so i have bleach blonde ends with mousey roots! i look lush! LOL

I know you've already had it done but thought I'd pipe up anyway, I've been dying my hair throughout pregnancy with my midwife's blessing

She laughed when I asked her and said it was probably the most asked question she'd had, and basically that even if any of the chemicals soaked into your scalp there wouldn't nearly be enough to harm baby. She did recommend telling your hairdresser when you book the appointment though, as it is true that dye can affect your hair differently during pregnancy, mine ended up looking exactly as it always does though

I had my hair dyed roots, bleach and all(!) when I was 5 weeks pregnant and didn't know! Baby's healthy so far! I probably wouldn't use bleach now, because my skin is super sensitive to everything now and I've had an itchy head for the last few weeks... but I would dye it again brown or red etc. xx

i no u already done it but i was jsut gona say i did mine aswell. and i read that the only reason some people say not to is because there hasnt been enough tests. how many women would volunteer to test using hair die in pregnancy? not enough. they just have to write something about everything to save there backs.

Personally I think a lot of people would volunteer as so many feel that it is safe anyway, but thats just my take. I've always heard that there are too many variables ie how much absorbed would be different for every person and every hair dresser probably does things slightly different.

I've dyed my hair all the way through in both pregnancys. So long as it doesn't touch your scalp its all safe. The only reason they say not to dye it in the first tri, is because of your hormones it can make the colours go funny and not take properly hehe

I dyed my hair once when pregnant but it didn't take to my hair as well as it usually did so for the other 7 months I didn't bother xx
