Does everybody get dark lines on their OPK's. Lately I've been only getting faint lines, never as dark as the control line. I imagine my hormones are out of wack but could I still be ovulating?

Dont worry its quite common for some woman to have faint line (lh hormone) on there opk. I always have a faint line. Only when the line is as dark or darker than the test line that you ovulate.

Problem is, I have not been getting the dark lines. Last cycle I only got faint lines and I'm worried this cycle will be the same.

Mine are the same i always get faint lines too when i have tested.. problem is i test to early and then get faint lines run out of cheap tests and prob miss the LH surge..

Maybe your testing to early or missing the lh surge?? I think you might be best testing same time every day.. maybe morning or night.. Remember tho not first thing in the morning maybe 11am.. and then re test 11am the next morning..

Sometimes you can only have a surge for 24hrs as the egg is relaesed so you could be missing it??
Do you have a good cycle pattern if so maybe you can pin point when to test twice a day and your prob she the dark line..

I only advising tho as i never seen a positive like i said i miss mine as i ovulate quite late..and every time i try i run out..

I only seem to get faint lines as well, I didn't realise that you weren't meant to test first thing in the morning though. I will have to try testing later in the day next month and see if I get darker lines.

The times that I've gotten the darkest lines has always been around cd9 or cd10 which coincided with ewcm. Problem is this past couple of months I've been on antibiotics and I have no cm to go by, so now that I need them most opk's are failing me. I'm afraid it may be my hormones because my last AF came on cd17 which is not normal. It usually comes on cd24 to cd27. I've also been temping for these past two months, but I'm still new at this. FF had me OV-ing last cycle at cd9 but opk's would not confirm. Baby Med experts could not detect OV, so I don't even know if I am OV-ing. Soooo frustrating!!

I tried that yesterday, but the darkest line was first thing in the morning. Afterwards they just kept getting fainter and fainter.

How long have you been ttc??

What about going for a day 21 test just to put your mind at rest??

I read the the EWCM sometimes comes after ovulation.. alot of people CM is different i mean i feel really wet now.. (sorry) but i am only on cd15 and i know sometimes i havent ovulated till quite late like cd25 to cd 30..

My periods been bit up and down these past few months since stopping bc so my periods have varied from cd35 to cd70.. mainly being around cd35ish..

However i went for my day 21test and i had low results i went on cd29 and that month didnt get my AF till like cd45 so i know i went to early for the test to detect ovulation as i think i ovulated well later that cycle and going off my CM i think i ovulated about a week after i had test done!!

Doctor advised me to go for another but its hard to pin point as well when i ovulate thats why i am trying to get the positive on the opk and then book for the blood test.. its suppose to be a week after you ovulate they take the test.. so i think maybe you could make an appointment for cd20.. i think your results will show then cause you have good cycles..

Sending hugs to you huni xx

I've been ttc for 5 months, but I had tried many years ago when I was younger without any luck. My doc asked me to get several hormone tests on the third day of my period, which I did and am now waiting for the results. I just know there's something weird going on with me because of that unusual 17day cycle. I just hope the tests shed some light.

Keep me posted, hope results come back ok sure they will..
I had some tests done re thyroids etc and they came back fine i think its all about trying to catch the LH surge before you miss it, maybe on cd10 start testing and to two tests a day one around 11am and then one later around 7pm..

Remember (not sure if you know) but to leave you wee in a cup in a room for 20mins before sticking the opk test in.... (sorry you might know that already)..

I just know how annoying it is, i havent seen a positive result on one and when i do i will jump for joy..
xx

Some women never get a full + on opk's it doesnt mean they dont ovulate though as if you dont ov af wouldnt show up hun, my friend always got faintish lines on her opk's were never a full + and now she is pregnant so she must have ov'ed just dont want you worrying too much as some women dont get positives or the tests dont pick it up another friend never had a + and is now in her 2nd trimester with her 1st baby so F'X you have ov'ed and caught the eggy :spermy: xx

Did not know about this and it's not in the instructions. Do you know the reasoning behind it? I'm definitely going to try it this afternoon!! Thanks.

What opks sticks do you use??

Only i use the cheap ones off ebay and on the back it does tell me to leave my wee in a cup at room temp for 20mins and then test and then leave the opks stick on dry surface for 10mins and read results..

It maybe different for different opk tests.. so you could be doing it right but the cheap little ones i use do say on the packets to leave your wee for 20mins and they also come with a little note on when to start testing depending on your cycle.. so this helps as well.. it does also mention about sometimes testing twice a day as i think the egg can be relased around 12hours to 48 hours after a positive result.. therefore you could just be missing the surge!!

Why dont you get some cheap ones off ebay you can get like 20 for £3.00 and that way start testing from cd10 and test twice a day maybe 11am and then 7pm and hopefully if you dont get a line as dark as control line your maybe get a really dark line so you can then write the cd day on the stick and am or pm and go back when AF shows up see which is the darkest line and then get rough idea really when you ovulated.. that way you can get an idea of when you ovulate..

If you get the cheap ones your get more for your money and also be able to test twice a day.. i know them clear blue opks are expensive...

Hope this helps.. i mean i cant talk like i said i havent had a postive yet, due to me either running out of tests before i ovulate.. i know this month tho i started testing cd 14 and wrote the day on them so i can refer back and see which is the darkest line so i can assume then i that i must of ovulated that day maybe..

Hope this helps.. x

I have to start early because I believe I ov early like cd9 so I start testing on cd5. I'm using CB and Answers and both have given me faint lines (darker in the mornings but still not anywhere near as dark as the control line and fainter later on in the day). I will try leaving the cup 20 mins before I test. Maybe that's what I needed. Will keep you posted.

I'll recommend testing twice daily too, just so u won't miss the surge. The surge can happen very quickly and disappear within 10 hours (or less - every woman's body is different). You will always get faint lines on your OPKs because we always have a tiny amount of LH surge in our bodies. I started the costly habit of testing twice daily and finally got a OPK positive after 1 week of negatives. And I got my positive while on UTI antibiotics, so you really never know!

I never heard of the 20min wait, maybe it does depend on the test you use. I've tested right away waited 3 mins or so and gotten both light and dark lines. It may just depend on your body, but if you are really concerned follow up with your doctor. The opk's are not 100%. You are temping also, so if the temp did go up, more than likely that was it...but if you need that peace of mind go get the blood work done to confirm you are o'ing or atleast go for every other day :sex: around the suspected time, and add some extra time around that window.
