OpK question.

I know that Opks turn positive right before you ovulate.

If you use an Opk and it comes up negative after getting a positive a day or 2 before, could you still be in the process of ovulating or did you already ovulate?

Usually after you get a positive OPK you will ovulate within the next 24 to 36 hours. I have been using OPK and that is what my booklet said. Hope this helps!!!

After you get a positive opk you will ovulate within 12-24 hours later I believe.

Hey hun, thanks for the response! But do you know if you can get a negative and actually be ovulating?

According to a calendar, I ovulated yesterday. I have not been using Opks. But I wanted to give my DH a night off from BDing to replenish some :spermy: so I took an Opk for the first time yesterday. It was negative (faint line). I was trying to figure out if I could still be in the process of ovulating, or if that really meant I had already ovulated.

Yes you can. I got a positive last Monday but I didn't ovulate until Friday but in the middle of the week I was getting negative OPK's the only reason I knew I ovulated on Friday was because I have a lot I mean a lot of EWCM. But I didn't have that the day of or after my positive OPK until Friday. Make sense?

Hey sweetie, that makes perfect sense, thank you!

Is it normal to get a positive on Monday and not ovulate til Friday? That seems like a really long time between since I thought the max was 36 hours?

Oops I ovulated on Thursday haha sorry I don't know why I was thinking Friday. Maybe because the Witch will come Friday the 29th if I don't end up pg lol

I was under the impression you got your positive on OPK.. you would ovulate within the next 12 - 36 hours. If you then started getting negatives afterwards its because the "surge" has ended. Its recommended to bed as soon as possible after the positive opk.

Internet calenders are not the trust worthy as everyone's cycle is different, opk and BBT are more reliable. Good luck! :)

oh and you can ovulate past 36 hours each person is different

Thanks again for the info! <3
Good luck this month, FX!! :dust:

try to follow your CM if your not charting. I used OPK's and then I checked my cm. Which is what told me I hadn't actually ovulated yet.

I've been trying to do that, and I think I ovulated a few days ago, I'm not really sure. I didn't really make very good EWCM this month so I started using preseed.
I'm looking into different ways to increase my EWCM (evening primrose oil and grapefruit juice).
I remember a time a few years ago when I was making awesome EWCM every month lol and it would be very distinct from other days of the month, I'm not sure what happened cause I haven't noticed it in a long time  I'm only 24! lol.

I am 22 and some months I notice it and other months I don't. This is also our only 2nd Month of trying and I did not pay attention to it before now. Hopefully we both caught the eggs in time. DH and I tried to BD every other day but life got in the way of that lol. So we for sure BD when I received the Pos OPK on Monday and didn't get to BD until Thursday when I noticed the EWCM.

Yeah, I can't even remember the last time I noticed good EWCM. But hopefully it was just because I've not been paying attention!
DH and I have been BDing almost daily: 4,6,8,10,11,12,13,15,16,17 of this month. And I've been so worried that it's overkill so we skipped yesterday to let DH replenish some :spermy:. I hope we didn't skip the day I was ovulating, but hopefully we had it covered with all the BDing before. And we're definitely doing it tonight, in case the egg is still there!
My cycles are very regular, but I'm actually starting to get worried that I didn't even ovulate at all.... :(

Wow that is a lot of BDing lol how do you guys find the time? And I am sure you covered your basis lol. But as for ovulating if you got a pos OPK you must have at least tried to ovulate which is a good sign. Hopefully the egg carried it through. Your still young so unless you know of some problems already I don't see why you wouldn't have ovulated.

I've been making sure it happens every night, and DH is just doing whatever I say lol. I want this so badly but it's only our first month so I'm trying not to be crazy about it (at least, in front of DH haha).
It was funny because I knew DH was tired some nights but he never really complained, so I wanted to give him a break last night and I told him we were waiting until today. After that, I practically had to fight him off and make him wait. MEN! :dohh:

The thing is, I never got a positive Opk. I wasn't going to use Opks at all this first month, but I randomly used one for the first time last night and got a faint line. My plan is to use another one today, and if the line is even fainter, then I'm going to assume I already ovulated, but if the line is getting darker, I'll assume I haven't ovulated yet.

Oh well then I am assuming you must have earlier. If you going to use OPK's starting using them right after AF as some people ovulate right after then. It's not common but you never know.
